YEH SAARE PICTURE DEKHNE HAI
Matrubhoomi

A brilliant concept, one which is rarely seen in the tree-running, rain-hugging world of Bollywood. So few movie producers in the Indian film industry take the 'what-if' line. Although the promos show the movie sinking back, later in the plot, to standard Bollywood fare, this is one movie I'd really wanna watch.

Mangal Pandey: The Rising

Aamir Khan is back, after almost exactly two years. The promos, though small in number (I've seen only two so far), do have an element of freshness about it. Also, this movie has Aamir wearing dhotis and sporting a black eye; it's almost as if he can't let go of the Lagaan-DCH hangover!

The Longest yard

A movie richarddixon has been raving about. It does seem to be made out of the same mould used for (amongst others) 'The Replacements', 'Major League', 'Mighty Ducks' and, to an extent, 'Lagaan': All movies which I really liked. God, I hope I never get tired of watching the underdog come through victorious!

Pirates of the Caribbean 2

Johnny Depp in a continuation of the swashbuckling adventures of Captain Jack Sparrow, formerly in command of the Black Pearl. Yo-ho-ho me mateys, it's time to board ship! The curse of the sequels will hit this movie too, I'm sure. However, again, this is one movie I really, really wanna watch!

Kill Bill Vol. 2

KB1 rocked. The only time I attempted to see KB2 was in ggollerkeri's room at IIMK. I promptly fell asleep when Michael Madsen started monologuing. But this movie is very much in the pipeline... And the wishlist! Just gotta hunt around for the DVD now.

THE SECOND BEST TEST TEAM IN THE WORLD?

Came up in a chat with Babbar. The Indian Test team have lost only two series since mid-2001. There was the Mike Denness tainted series in South Africa ([Edit]in October 2001[/Edit])(where Sehwag made his test debut and debut century) where we lost 1-0 in what ultimately became a two-test series and there was the home series loss to Australia earlier this year.

That, all in all, is an awesome record. Not one many teams can boast of. Ganguly and Wright should get a lot of credit for building such a team.

(In direct contrast to the title of this section, India in third place in ICC Test Rankings, behind Australia and England)

POP, FIZZ, WHA???

Imagine: One of the major cola conglomerates comes out with a bland, opaque black bottle as packaging. The drink in the bottle? That's a surprise. It could contain any flavour: orange, 7-Uppy, lemon, cola, ice, tea, etc. It would make every purchase a delight, or a fright; but always an experience.

I certainly would buy such a product. And am strongly of the opinion that such a product is worth, at least, a market test.

(Yes! This idea has been simmering in my grey cells well before J.K. Rowling thought of Bettie Bott's Every-Flavored Beans)

BATCH NEWS: IIMK 2005

Abhishek Babbar is in mourning for the sad demise of the form of ex-champion Formula One driver Michael Schumacher. Amit Damor has updated his website; dunno why he doesn't just blog.

Gaurav Gollerkeri will be in Bangalore for some time before flying out to the LS of E. Karan Shah's car is working. (Don't open the door, that was just me knocking on wood). Pralay Chakrabarti is in Aditya Birla. Oops. Prashant Dinodia might visit Bangalore on the August 15 weekend. Abhinav Goel is still hunting for Harsh Biyani.

Also, Ankur from the Batch of 2007 breaks one record set by our very own PC! Read more here. Heh heh... Sorry buddy, couldn't resist!
