...it's been all about home improvement. Much fun, but my fingers are itching to get started on some new summer garb. *sigh*
We yanked the
ugly pink carpet out of the stairwell yesterday, which made us *very* happy. Underneath we found the original hardwood, tongue-in-groove steps, which are pretty worn and were apparently originally painted red, then grey, then white. (Pics tonight or tomorrow) We are planning on sanding them down a bit (as long as there's no lead paint) and re-painting them, probably same color as the trim in the hall, but now I'm thinking red would be fun - and authentic! (Yes, the authenticity bug has infiltrated Real Life, too...)
Painting the stairs should be a pretty easy project, compared to some that we've done. We're not planning to do the walls in the stairwell just yet - they need some plaster repair first. The two things we have to remember are: 1) lock cats in dining room before painting, and 2) work from the top down! (Only one staircase in the house...)
