After being so
down about Christmas... and having a shitty morning on Christmas Eve with a grumpy daughter... (We forgot the gifts! o.O And had to turn back to get them after we'd driven for nearly an hour already which added an hour to the journey in total. SUCKED!)
It actually turned out alright.
Day before Christmas Eve we visited
peting73s mom for a mini-Christmas, as they call it. *lol* His relatives are not that big into Christmas, if I put it that way. :-) It was nice though, not to much pressure. And people actually liked their gifts, which I had been worried about when I bought them, so success!
First thing I got when we arrived at mom's at Christmas Eve was a HUGE hug from my brother who was already there with his kids. That hug saved my Christmas, I swear. No one hugs like my brother. Not even
peting73. (Sorry, my love.)
So after a rocky start, we spent Christmas Eva at mom's. Here in Sweden Christmas Eve is The Day you celebrate Christmas on, so we spent it with mom. My family, my brothers family, my cousins (my aunt worked) and just hanging out with mom. We ate a RIDICULOUSLY amount of Christmas food that mom had prepared, opened gifts, watched as Alexandra played with her cousins... had a fright as Alexandra climbed halfway up mom's stairs... ate more food and sweets and just had a generally good time.
And yes, Alexandra got a crazy amount of toys and clothes in gifts! :-D
Christmas Day is not a huge day in Sweden. The pubs and nightclubs are usually open, so my brother was out partying hard with our cousins. But first we hung out with aunt, brother (his kids was with their mom), cousins and mom that afternoon/ evening as well. Was great, it really was. :-) Just talking, eating more Christmas food and hanging out with family. And some more gifts... *lol*
On Boxing Day my brother always have a little Christmas gathering for my fathers side of the family, and he did this year to, despite being a single dad this year. But he did great! I don't know what has gotten into him after his divorce, but... he has turned into a baking dad. He bakes and cooks and bakes and makes sweets and bakes some more. *lol* As a result I gave him one of the most classical cookbooks with only cakes and cookie recipes in it for Christmas gift, because I felt he needed it! *grin* So, safe to say there was A LOT to eat at his gathering to!
And more gifts... Did I mention more gifts? Mostly for the kids. *lol* But it was great fun for sure.
My brother has started to renovate his house again, since he wants it the way HE likes it without to much trace of his ex-wife's taste, you know? Fully understandable. And what with how skilled/handy/practical he is... He does everything by himself. It looks GREAT! :-)
Alexandra did great during this years Christmas Marathon! :-) Stayed up a little longer each night and slept like the dead during the nights, letting me and
peting73 sleep long. Was wonderful.
So yeah.
All in all? It turned out awesome! :-)
