A silly worry?

My MIL is a bit funny, really... I love her to death, I really do... Apart from one thing.

She thinks she is a bother when she comes to visit... What? Me and peting73 are so hospitable it is almost ridicoulus. We are not bothered. You wanna visit us, you are MORE then welcome to do so! Just give us 5-10mins head-start so we are dressed and have the ( Read more... )

I want to make sure I'm understanding. Is Peting's mom saying she doesn't come visit more often because she doesn't want to impose? How often would you like to see her? I'm not really one to say much about it, as we live 20 minutes from the kids' grandma, and Kat goes to school in the town where she lives, but I think she sees her grandma once every 4-5 months.

I'm envious of your Christmas shopping being done. I've done nothing! lol

Oh no! She is just saying she is to busy to come visit more. :-/ I don't know. Hearing you, maybe I ecpect to much? I mean, when I grew up I meet both my maternal and parternal grandparents once every week or every other week. :-P It was just the way I was brought up. :-) My extended family was very close. We visited each other very often. I meet my cousins every week or every other week to. :-P

peting73 and his lil family don't work like that. I just... can't see it all the time. They always apologize for being a bother and are we really SURE it is OK if they visit? etc, etc... I am not used to that. At all. With us, in my family it's just... open doors. All the time.

Some families are just different, I guess. I think my sister and parents, even though only living 7 miles from each other, really only see each other at church, so Idk. I live 60 miles from my aunt and haven't seen her in years, but at one time I lived down the hall in the same apartment building as my sister and it was like living together.

Maybe she just really likes more time to herself and maybe does have trouble finding time for everything? :/

I know. :-) I never thought about the difference much before Alexandra was born, but it is starting to become more apparent I guess... I have to get used to it. As you say, everyone is different. For sooooo many years I thought all families worked like mine. I think I was almost 20 when it really hit him that not everyone are like that. During my trip to the US, no less! X-D

And I think you are right. :-) I'll just give her space and hopefully she'll get used to be a grandma and such to. :-)
