Topek-emo

And then Keri wrote some Emo Woe for back-in-the-day Topeka. February 1984 back-in-the-day. I warn for... orphanhood. And cute kids. But mostly angst. Also the end is tacked on and I'm meh about it but I needed the scene out of my head.

Childhood! I remember those days. People over and you can't think of anything to do. And not really wanting to do anything!

So his grandparents are letting him move into the attic? That's very fairytale. I bet he sets up mad scientisty things, with things that boil all the time over bunson burners, and foul-smelling blue liquids from unidentifiable sources, and a white rat named Thomas who doesn't really accept experiments but it just there for the whole ambiance, and strange things floating in jars…

Wood stove! Cosy! I love big wrap-around porches. Chicken nooooodle.... I must now paraphrase Raymond Chandler: If a woman can make good chicken noodle, she's just about perfect.

Since you mention it it IS a bit more garret-like than atticy, as there is a proper attic as well. Hrm.

...and star charts on the ceiling and a telescope on a balcony/platform they cobbled together. And oh the BOOKSHELVES, one a solid yellow wall of National Geographics, the other repleat with Azimov and Orwell, Shakespeare and Verne and books on philosophy and psychology and mythology and eeeee, can I move in nao?

Star charts on the ceiling! LOL! Yeah, Ambrose MUST have a giant sleepover in which all his other-world watchers come and stay with him.

*hugs it too*

And later it gets to be Jeb's room, although most of the Stuff has been moved down to the "office" by then. But still!

He would totally PAINT the starcharts on the ceiling, too. Adjusting for stellar drift and all that.

"These are not spatially accurate. People are being lied to. This star isn't here..." *jams finger to page* "It's here." *jams finger to same spot on page*
