Grargh!
Today has been crap so far. Woke up with a headache, left the house at 7:35, reached in my purse for the keys to lock the deadbolt.... and found no keys.
I -locked- my keys in the appartment. Yes, I did ask Simon to slip them through the mail slot, but with him being a cat and all it was useless. So through some cunning work with reading signage and following instructions, I contacted maintemance at 7:45. Around 8 a guy with a bunch of keys turned up. Now, what he did was stick EVERY key in the lock and jiggle left and right before giving up and trying to next one. I'm like "Uh, we usually turn right and push." He grunted and tried the next key. After using all his keys he said they'd need to send someone else.
Around 8:20 I call the office again and am like "Soooo... where's the other guy? The first guy said we needed another guy with different keys." "Oh, I'll send someone." 8:45 - "Yeah, me again, is somsone coming?" "Someone is on the way, yes." 9:15 - "Is it because my name's not on the lease?" "They haven't come yet?" "*sniffle* No..." "I called them, they're coming." 9:45 - "Please Christ Jesus just open my door!" "Hold on." *on hold* "Someone is coming." "*pause* Uh-huh."
At 9:47 an elderly gentleman with a large set of keys walks up, looks at the door, goes "Oh, one of the old ones.", selects a key, TURNS IT TO THE RIGHT AND PUSHES, and lo and behold the door opens. I was nearly crying with relief.
I was sitting on my concrete stoop for TWO HOURS. The low this morning was 35 degrees, I was wearing slacks, a tank top, a long sleaved shirt, my lighter winter coat and gloves. No scarf, no super-insulated boots. That. SUCKED. All I can say is thank God it wasn't Friday when it was 19 degrees out and windy as hell.
