Well, there may be a couple here, so bear with me. First, I am remaking "
Around the World in 17 Tracks" because it got eaten two, possibly three years ago and I miss its Awesome.
1. "Left My Heart In San Francisco," ...Tony Bennet?
2. "Viva Las Vegas," undecided between the Elvis and ZZ Top version (I know what you vote for, Ter)
3. "I Love LA," Randy Newman
4. "Welcome to Chicago, Motherfucker" Kill Hannah
5. "The Toronto Song," Three Dead Trolls In A Baggie
6. "New York," U2
7. "Miami Vice Theme," Jan Hammer
8. "Copacabana," Barry Manilow (on the verge of getting booted for not being an actual geographic location)
9. "Long Way To Tipperary,' whichever version I like
10. "London Calling," the Clash
11. NOT "April In Paris," sorry I kinda hate that song
(this is where my geography gets messy)
12. "Leningrad," Billy Joel
13. "Istanbul (Not constantinople)," They Might Be Giants
14. "Night Boat to Cairo," Madness
15. "Katmandu,' Bob Seger
16. "One Night In Bangkok," Murray Head
17. "Land Down Under," Men at Work
Poor Asia. Feel free to make suggestions!
And now:
1. "All Sparks," Editors - This is one depressing song. I think it might be a theme for the Stormwinds at Koude. because some of 'em are gonna DIE.
2. "Holla Back Girl," Gwen Steffani - I blame
Matt Yee. It's amazing what singing this very loudly with dozens of other drunks on a cruise ship is like.
3. "Golden Years," David Bowie - A more optimistic Stormwinds song. Also was on Random 2.5 before THAT got eaten a few years ago.
4. "Got You Where I Want You," the Flys - Love theme for Arumth.
5. "Call Me," Blondie - This was the number one song in America the week I was born. True fact!
6. "The Ubiquitous Mr. Lovegrove," Dead Can Dance - Love theme for N'zen and Arumth. Well maybe not. "You raise my hopes then you raise the odds, You tell me that I dream too much, Now I'm serving time in disillusionment. I don't believe you anymore..." Then again... been meaning to get this on a CD for AGES.
7. "This Is Such A Pity," Weezer - Jesus CHRIST this entire song is an earworm. It gets in your head and won't leave! I was singing the chorus under my breath all day at work.
8. "American Badass," Kid Rock - Ya rly. Also got eaten on Random 2.5. I'm sure you know what happened to Random 2.
9. "Super Bon Bon," Soul Coughing - Niiiiiiiiiiiice song. It has a groove. Bonus points for using the word "mezzanine."
10. "John the Revelator," Depeche Mode - Another Arumth song. He's an evil dragon. I dind't want an evil dragon, but I suppose it'll work. I'll make it work. Damnit. *shakes fist*
11. "Dirty Business," Dresden Dolls - I need MORE Dresden Dolls. I want to write a charcter based on this song. Maybe it'll be Searcy v2.1.
12. "Word Up!," Cameo - I totally blame VH-1. But don't tell me you don't love this song.
13. "Supermassive Black Hole," Muse - Love theme for N'zen, assuming he ever talks to anyone and forms some sort of relationship. My newest redheaded guy bluerider is a masochist, by the by. He's fun!
14. "Love Will Tear Us Apart," Joy Division - This song... just so many levels of PAIN. But it's so, so good.
15. "It Takes Two," Rob Base and DJ EZ Rock - Yes, that song. It's a catchy mofo, you cna'tdeny it that. You also cannot deny the love. Krys and Laura's theme. She's make hm sing it on cue, because Krys rapping is hysterical.
16. "What About Everything," the Ark - I blame
Calapine (PHENOMENAL vid, by the way). GOD I love this song. Also a theme for the Stormwinds, maybe moreso than when they were candidates. I keep wanting to coordinate a "what about..." for each of them. Dibs on "What about my life so far?" for Zen!
17. "Rise," Public Image Limited - Another refugee from Random 2.5. No, I have no idea wat else was on that disc, it's sad. I only remember three of maybe 16 tracks. Damnit.
18. "(Get Yourself) Connected," Stereo MCs - I heard this on Jack one day going to work for SyncSort (why does that feel like a lifetime ago?) and fell in love with it. It's finnky and hypnotic and repetative but wonderful.
