Keri's take on the "Sinister 80's Fairytales" section of the summer guide:
"They're morbid and they're dark and I watched them habitually. And I still watch them now. "
The Secret of Nimh (1982) - OMFG, best movie evar. Justin and Jennar's duel, the rosebush, Justin dropping the d-bomb ("Damn!"), blood and death and animal cruelty. I have the DVD. And it's all the more horrid because the lady who voiced Mrs. Brisby killed herself a few years later. Bring. It. On.
The Dark Crystal (1982) - Mom and I tried watching it one night many moons ago and ended up giving it a giant WTF. Must try seeing from beginning.
The Neverending Story (1984) - I'll never forgive them for killing the horse. Nevermind if they ressurect him later, they still drowned him slowly in a mud puddle. On the other hand, Falcor is teh WIN.
Return to Oz (1985) - I hated this movie so much. It scared the bejeezes out of me. And "RtO"-style Tinman somehow reminds me of Teddy Roosevelt. But it was totally the pumpkin-headed Scarecrow that freaked.
Labyrinth (1986) - "Daaaa-vid Booo-wiiiie!" - me, repeatedly, age 6. I so wanted to be Sarah when I grew up. ::glances around room:: Wait.
nostalgicness,
