Evony, Equality, Telephony

Is anybody else sick of seeing these Evony ads around online? I don't even know what the fuck it is, some Sim City type game in the vein of World of Warcraft or Age of Empires or something, I guess. And the ads all have something in it about conquering something, or calling the viewer of the ad "my lord," and there's always a shirtless or nearly shirtless woman with heaving cleavage. What a load of crap.

Sorry I haven't been around much. I guess I've got a live-in outlet for talking about my day-to-day events in Matt, so I kind of forget to do it here. I still update Facebook like a fiend. Twitter has fallen by the wayside a bit because I feel like I'm just screaming into nothingness, but I make posts there occasionally too.

I think the last thing I posted about here was MJ's death. *blinks* That was nearly two months ago. And, well, I feel the need to document here briefly (I'm sure everyone's "sick of hearing about it" so I'm keeping most of my feelings private :P ) that the whole thing was kind of tough for me, whether you think that's ridiculous or not. I cried on and off for days, secretly or maybe not-so-secretly, and generally felt despondent. I'm doing fine now, though, despite still being sad about it and missing him. Hugs and thanks to both belenen and possumed for your caring and sensitivity; I really did appreciate it loads. ♥

ANYWAY. Still working on the marriage equality campaign. Yes, the law has been passed, but there is a risk of a Prop 8-like veto by the public on the issue, so we're currently calling voters and identifying our supporters, trying to convince them to vote early by absentee ballot, then later on (probably early next month) calling back people we identified as undecided and trying to convince them to lean our way. In a grand sense, it's pretty exciting, but the monotony of the scripts we've been working with is starting to wear on me quite a bit. I feel like I could recite the whole damn spiel in my sleep. And half the time I feel like the people I call hate these sorts of calls and want to get off the phone with me as quickly as possible. :P Our county's all-volunteer leadership group was also starting to feel unappreciated by the higher-ups, too, because we've all been maintaining everything ourselves, for free, with not a lot of guidance and support from the main EqualityMaine officials in Portland, having lost our paid field organizer. We were all about to submit a collaborative letter of complaint, but just learned Thursday night that we will finally be getting an organizer next week. Yahoo! Hopefully that will help us all feel less aimless and overtaxed...

Anyone on my friends list who uses AT&T as a wireless carrier and is looking to get a new phone soon? DO NOT GET AN LG NEON. It will eventually start freezing every time you place a call, and neither you nor the person you're calling will be able to hear anything for 15-30 seconds, resulting in the folks you're calling thinking it's a prank or a telemarketer and hanging up before you're even aware they'd answered. Apparently this is a common problem with that model. Unfortunate, too, because I really liked that phone. But, oh well. I've got the Pantech Matrix now and it's working quite well thus far!

I totally just saw the "detect" button next to the location input field down below and thought it corresponded with the mood field and wondered how LJ could have possibly come up with the technology to detect a person's mood, lol.

Think it's time for bed. ;)

Anything else you'd like to hear about from me? I could use some writing prompts or something... :P
