I'm in a blah/sad sort of mood, but I can't really pinpoint why. So rather than whinge without any sort of direction whatsoever, I decided to post some pics from a while ago. (Apparently the pictures were taken January 24.)
We get a ton of snow here. Somewhere around that date, we got like, three feet of snow in one day. And the Department of Public Works garage finally decided to say, "Well, fuck this. I'm giving up."
The pictures don't really do it justice. I felt sort of sad when we drove past it. There were a few DPW workers in the garage when it collapsed; thankfully they were all able to get out unharmed before it actually came down. They lost a bunch of equipment that was buried under that collapsed roof. I forget just how much they lost, but I remember seeing squashed construction equipment on the news one night. They're still managing to get their job(s) done, though.
I'm not sure why it decided to collapse now, and not during that one time a year ago where we got 3-5 feet of snow every day for a week. That must have just been when the initial weakening of the structure started.
Also, damn, is EVERYONE sick? I had a cold for awhile that's mostly gone. My mom's developing something, and a ton of people she works with are sick. My brother has the flu. A bunch of people on LiveJournal are sick. What the hell, man? Feel better!
