When I initially signed up for Facebook, I loved how it was different from MySpace in that peoples' profiles weren't so fucking customizable. I'm all for self-expression, but have you seen some of these profiles on MySpace? People with no sense of web design pick and choose random sparkly things they think would look wicked awesome, and put together, their page becomes barely readable and rather headache-inducing. Facebook was simple, classy, basic.
Well, I spoke too soon.
Thanks to the addition of fucking millions of "applications," it takes me about five minutes to load some peoples' profiles. Of course, I am on dial-up, but come on. Who cares what fake drinks people have bought you at the Facebook bar, or what your stripper name is, or whatever.
I suppose it's all in the name of interaction and some false sense of "connecting," but I just can't really get too into it, and I find myself pressing the "stop loading" button on my browser just to get to the Wall, which is enough interaction for me. SIMPLIFY, PEOPLE!

In other news, my mom got a job today. Her first official job since 1982! She's been working extremely part-time for the past few months, under the table; helping out the guy who stocks the local Price Chopper (supermarket chain) with Freihofer's products. One of the managers or something has seen her working around there and saw she was a good worker, so they offered her an interview today and after only a few minutes of talking with her, they told her she was hired. So, yay, I'm happy for her. :)
Although she's just going to bed now, after an evening of drinking, cooking cheese blintzes, and playing John Denver and Neil Diamond at shrill volumes in celebration, or whatever. Not so happy about that. *clutches forehead* I think I'm going to take some Tylenol soon and get in bed and try to will my resulting headache away. Haha.
