Some stuff I found among a stack of papers on this shelf thing near my desk:
- "La Revista"- put together by Mr. Aparicio in my sophomore year Spanish class with Mrs. Lasko. And a conversation I had with him online about halloween costumes. (??)
- Old shipping invoices from things like "Teach yourself Polish Complete Course" and Get Fuzzy Calendars
- Old progress reports.. such as one from Freshman year, when I had Mrs. Perrino and Mr. Steuber
- A bunch of "Volunteering is Priceless" Newsletters, in which I was hardly mentioned and remember being bitter about. And this poem from Jr. Volunteering Orientation called Somebody's Mother.
- Old notes about movies I should see/ how symbols of elements on the periodic table are spanish words
- A copy of this note I stole from Becky and Angela one year
- A park map from Disney- MGM studios (Compliments of the Kodak Company)
- A big tropical rainforest popster from National Goegraphic Junior/ Kids (?) magazine.
- A list of phone numbers of the flute and clarinet section
- An invitation to Melanie's suprise Party
- A list of songs we played for the Girls State Closing Ceremony.
- A.P. Student Packs from 2004 and 2005
- A draft of the apology note I wrote to the woman whose car I crashed into.
- Rho Eta Sigmas
- Lyric sheets to The Turkey Tango- my favorite sone from elementary school Music class. Dominik scored me a copy when he was still at Franklin
- Some stream-of-consciousness writing excercise from Shipley's class. Some papers. And an outline for a report I did on Jim Henson and the muppets, too.
- A backstreet boys poster I meant to give to Jen for years but never did. [Millenium-Era, I'd say- some kind of Burger King promotion]
- This Happy Birthday Krystyna sign with an old guy on it, used as a decoration for one of my parties
- Some art stuff.. this color wheel I did, and one of those Art Instruction Schools tests I got back when I was 14. And this park scene I painted last year that I maybe should paint over/ get rid of.
- Programs from middle school concerts (prolly Dominik's) and from NHS induction 2005. And for Charlie Brown, Antigone, and Bang Bang You're Dead
- A notebook from this summer theatre thing I did with the Rahway Rec. Alfredo was in it. Also some notes in there from old papoers I did, like the one on Francis of Assisi or the Mexican Pachucos. Not to mention some algebray-calc stuff.
- The invitation to Terri and Erika's joint birthday party, from 2004 I think. "Mr and Mrs. Alfredo Merino cordially invite you to a semi-formal event.." Good times.
Alas, I don't have room to keep these things forever. While looking through them brings back memories of things I've generally forgotten, they're mostly irrelevant, and really, what do I need any of them for? Their purpose is primarily one of nostalgia.
Hung out with Kyle, Bryan, Ben and Terri today. We wanted to get to some mini golfing place in Union but Mapquest stinks and Kyle is crazy, so it took us forever to get there.. only to find out how it was crappy and being painted. So we ended up checking out the Cranford canoeing place, and finally playing mini-golf at Hyatt Hills. And catching dome Dunkin' Donuts in the meantime. I hope Kyle gets that pool fixed soon.
Summer vacay is weird. I feel like I'm kind of sitting around wasting the days away. The time goes by so fast, and I have nothing to show for it. Maybe I just need to relax/ not feel so pressured to accomplish things. I have lots of tentative plans, though. Of organizing my room/ the stuff I brought back from college, sewing, making sense of my picture files, reading, looking up random things online, learning flute music, working on sax, learning guitar, working out, volunteering someplace potentially... Usually, though, I end up just hanging out somwhere with people and doing some chores. And maybe STARTING to do one of the above things.
It'd be good to get a job, but I'm going to Poland from July 5- August 10, and that's smack in the middle of the summer. I doubt anyone would be flexible enough to hire me then. That's why volunteering might be a good thing to do. But where to go? I was thinking of Habitat, and then as I was laying outside in the sun yesterday, I realize what a bad idea that might be. Nevertheless, I should plan on putting a few calls in.
I also need to get a new pair of glasses cheapishly somehow, and fix my videocamera (and get my software back!) so that I can edit some past vacation footage from Italy.
My eldest cousin just had a baby girl! Dominik had his confirmation last Thursday, and we had some people over on Saturday. Ky Terri and Ben came then, too, but we had these annoying little girls over that may have ruined it for them.
So things are generally aiight. Hope everyone's having a good summer.. and that the school year comes quickly to an end for all you HS kids.
Some potential future plans for which you might want to join me/people:
-Fairway Golfy place
-State Fair?
-Six flags eventually sometime
-Going to Pt Pleasant next week
-Out to eat/ movies/ normal stuff like that
-Canoeing.
Yo.
[Bye!]
