I really, really, REALLY hope this Teracottage/Re|Structure job takes off. Seriously. It is my dream job. I need to make it happen. I need to act as Creative Director for this company, full time, and get my ass out of this office renting BS.
But this job just has so many perks...I mean, I get to basically look at work that's inspiring all day and share it with others, and help establish a look and feel to the company brand. Since we lost our graphic designer, I've been doing to mock-ups for our company T-shirt, which have to say are coming out pretty awesome.
The best part though...
The best part is that I get to work with a world-renowned film company, conducting interviews and brushing shoulders with the awesome folk in NYC as we work on a "the only of its kind," type of project. Sorry for the vague references here, but I've not yet been cleared to discuss things yet. No, seriously, we're talking big-wig enough that I can't even use their name without it getting cleared. It's awesome. I feel like I should be wearing an Armani suit and sunglasses all day.
I've never cared for celebrity gossip or any of that stuff, but unique and inspired design for a household name company? Yes, please! Talk to me all day and night...tell me about how you were inspired, and what had the idea progress this far, and how awesome it is...
We need backers though. Backers, backers backers.
In case you know anyone with deep pockets and feel like doing me any favors, the essential idea of Teracottage is this:
Teracottage aims to sell not just the architecture of unique designs, but the whole lifestyle of those designs, in limited edition fashion. Teracottage looks at smaller structures: sheds, tree houses, storefronts, and cottages, although they're more than willing to take on larger projects as well.
Just to give an idea of how a lifestyle is delivered with the product:
Saw you want a Hobbit-style tea house for your backyard.
Teracottage would not only design the Hobbit house, find a way to construct it that is not just efficient, but eco-friendly, but you would also get a book featuring documenting the process of the house from examples of materials to watercolor renderings to photos of the finished product.
You would also get a set of clothes to match the Hobbit house.
Potentially you would also get jewelry that matched the clothes and Hobbit House.
We can even arrange for beehives, birdhouses, gardens, etc.. with the installation of said Hobbit-House.
Everything would be editioned and signed by its creators as pieces of art, thus increasing the value of your whole Hobbit House collection. Hence, you get the lifestyle.
However, obviously these things and this much attention to detail don't come cheap. Hence, the need for backers. We are going to be throwing together a Kickstarter soon, but if we can get any individual or corporate backers aside from the Kickstarter crowd, it would be fantastic.
I pray every night that this HAPPENS. Please oh please let it happen because it would be AWESOME.
awesomeness,
jobness
