This is my final semester at USF as a regular student since next semester I will be a full-time intern. Currently I'm taking my last three courses (most of which are relatively easy) and one of my classes is my "micro-teach". It's a field experience class that works like this: Each student is assigned a school to teach at. Along with the school assignment, each student is also assigned a clinical instructor - this is a teacher at their assigned school who teaches the student's specific subject area.
So this morning my micro-teach course met for the first and only time and I received my school and teacher assignment. I'll be teaching at a middle school in Plant City. I'm verrrry excited - especially because it's an "A" school and the subject/grade is eighth grade History. The micro-teach assignment requires that I spend a minimum of 30 hours observing my clinical instructor's class and also teaching 5 "fifty minute periods" (the last micro-teach must be video-taped -ugh). I have already called my instructor to touch base with him and to set up a date/time for me to come in and shadow him. I have yet to hear from him but I'm hoping to observe next Thursday (the best day for me to take off at work). Anywho, I'm very anxious...the thought of being in front of an actual group of students- and being responsible for educating them, is nerve-wrecking beyond belief. I will definitely be reporting my progress/failures here though. These are memories I never want to forget ! Hah! :)
