Europe, Here I come!

Sep 02, 2011 23:19

Next year I am planning on spending my vacation time travelling around Europe.

I have 6-7 weeks off and will be leaving on April 15th (most likely, as this is the first day of my annual leave)

I really want to go to the Anzac Day service on April 25th in Turkey.

This is much harder than planning my last holiday.

Before I got my start date I was planning on a kind of circular trip around the continent, now that seems much harder, mainly because Turkey is in a much more difficult location to (sort of) start from.

I want to use avoid flying as much as possible, and use trains whenever it does not become to inconvenient (I get 50% off train journeys in most countries).

Does anyone know if the trains and ferries are still running in Greece? I heard that they shut down because of the economy. And does anyone know the best way to get from Istanbul to Athens? or Istabul to Tel Aviv? What about getting from mainland Europe to Cairo using a ferry (is that even done?)

Does anyone have any recomendations?
