character limits for the fail

At the base of everything though is that our country's incredible "democracy" that we feel the need to tell everybody about all the time is broken. We have 2 parties that have a stranglehold on the elections. It forces the populace to define themselves by those 2 parties alone. It forces the people to pick 2 or 3 key issues and elect based on that, rather than find a canidate that truly represents their point of view.

But then again considering the size and diversity of our nation, we'd probably end up with 10 canidates for the general election in november and end up with a guy who's views only reflect 25% of the population......so maybe the solution isn't just to break the stranglehold of the 2 parties but to tell the south/midwest states to gtfo?

Anyway, now that Edwards is out, I really don't have a preference. Obama is nice, Clinton would be great too. I have no real issues with either of them. I consider myself a democrat even though I know some issues I will never agree with the party about, namely NAFTA, immigration, and why idiots like Jesse Jackson & Al Sharpton are allowed to make a mockery of civil rights by basically looking like ambulance chasers all over the country, yet enjoy the undying love of the democratic party.

That's why he's running as a republican. He doesn't have a choice. He's said that he won't run as a libertarian if he doesn't get the republican nomination, but I think he would.

As for everything else, I've had too many after work drinks to argue my points right now. Still, I'll disown you if you vote for Hilary Clinton.

I don't subscribe to something by it's name. I'd rather follow my views.

ps. Have you heard any of the shit about John McCain being born in Panama so he shouldn't even be able to run anyway?

I don't go for things because of their name either, the facts simply are that the majority of my stances on issues fall in the democratic ring and the issues that I get the most pissed off about when my elected officials do it (run on a platform of the government dictating social morals handed down by religions I'm supposed to be free of.....for one), are most often performed by republicans. In order to get the most of what I want and the least of what I don't want in the government, I vote democrat. Doesn't mean I do so blindly at all. If I don't like the person or don't feel they can represent my views well enough, they won't get my vote. Just because there's multiple elections on the ballot doesn't mean I have to fill in a bubble for each of them.

& no I hadn't heard that, but it doesn't matter where he was born. If one of his parents was an american citizen, he's automatically an american citizen. And if he was born in Panama, probably was born on a base.

and nevermind, here, did some research and I was right:

"McCain was born on August 29, 1936, at the Coco Solo Air Base in the then-American-controlled Panama Canal Zone[1] to Admiral John S. "Jack" McCain, Jr. (1911-1981) and Roberta (Wright) McCain (b. 1912). His father and grandfather were United States Navy admirals,[2] and were the first father-son pair to both achieve four-star admiral rank.[3]"

There's two ways to be born an US citizen. One, be the child of a US citizen, two, be born within the borders of the US. I think the second one needs to be struck from law to discourage some of these illegal immigrants from coming here. Anyhow, so yes, McCain has every right & qualification to run for president. Tell whoever told you he didn't to go back to their high school civics class.
