All I want is a quiet weekend to get things done around the house. Instead, I get this...
D and I went to see Joel Plaskett on Friday night. It was a great show. The last time I saw Joel play, he was without his band. He played awesome with the band and it added a whole different dynamic. I also ran into a whole bunch of people I knew. I freaked out when I saw Rich because it had been a really long time since we last saw each other. I finally got to meet his girlfriend too.
Saturday was a giant gong show. I left my house really late to go to the Farmer's Market to buy a mother's day present before meeting my mom at the Safeway. I had emailed the lady about the braclet earlier in the week, so she was holding one for me. I, literally, ran to her booth, bought the braclet and ran out of the market. I was 10 minutes late meeting my mom, who didn't really seem to mind.
My mommy and I spent the afternoon at her friend's grand-daughter's dance recital. It was pretty cool watching these little cuties dancing. There was one girl who was no older than 10 that was just an incrediable dancer. She is going to have a great dance career for sure.
After the recital, we went to Winners and bought flower pots. I also bought these awesome 50's advertisement cards. I am framing the ones that say "Don't worry, Honey, you didn't burn the beer." and "The Chef does everything except cook. That's what wives are for." I am going to put them in our kitchen because they make me laugh.
Karen, Nathan, D & I drove out to their parent's place for a fire pit hangout. I was so tired and grumpy. I felt bad because I think I may have been taking it out on D's family. Shauna and Yani were out there too. Yani is almost 2 and so cute. He is such a happy little guy.
On Sunday, Jeff and I cooked crepes for my mom. We made chicken, sundried tomato, feta, pepper and spinach crepes to start. For dessert, Jeff made mango, strawberry and banana crepes with whipped cream. Yummy.
After brunch, Jeff and I took our mom to the Walmart garden centre. D went home to clean up the yard. I bought a heap of flowers and pots. I got peach and yellow water lilies for our pond. I also found these awesome huge turquoise glazed pots for $15. When I got home, I planted for hours. Our front window boxes are filled with impatients. The 2 turquoise pots have geraniums, purple daisy-type flowers, purple and peach petunias, white and blue labelia. I'm so excited for them to fill in. I planted a purple and yellow polka dot pot with pansies and labelia. Another turquoise pot was planted with petunias. And I planted a terracotta pot with decorative grass, hawaiian blues and labelia. The 2 hanging planters were filled with oregano, greek oregano, cinnamon basil and peppermint. I want to buy more flowers for the front gardens to make them super pretty! I think I might rearrange soem of the potted plants to fill in the front gardens too. I also am going to buy some seeds to fill in the front gardens becayuse it will cost me a fortune to buy flowers for all of them.
I love making things grow!
