I'm sorry it took me so long to respond to this. I never get on. I hope you get it. Its ok though.
Where is real scriptural proof that women can't be preachers? When PAUL said to a group of believers to keep the women quiet he was talking about a group of women had not been allowed to be in church, but because of the message and sacrifice Jesus gave, women could finally go to church and read scripture. They were clueless to the workings of the church and to a lot of scripture. They had a lot of questions and were disrupting worship with them. Paul was just saying that they needed to ask their questions later. The informed were obviously not doing their job to inform the ignorant. Paul never said that women should never speak in church, he said not to disturb worship. There are people (men and women) who will visit the church and be clueless. God's word for us in that particular scripture is that we need to help the clueless. Its a shame that we let people wonder around and expect them to find out on their own what we learned from someone else. Also when the Bible discribes a minister and decons, in our translations it says he, his, etc. But, in Greek and Hebrew, informal pronouns were always masculine unless it was only talking about women. It doesn't discriminate.
Some examples of women leadership is.. Mary Magdelien and the woman at the well were sent by Jesus to tell the gospel. He could have easily choosen a man to do this job. There were women prophets (THe peeps God directly spoke to.)in the Bible. Pricilla and Aquilla were Paul's preachin' buddies. The wife was the preacher and the husband was the church worker & builder.
As far as singing is concerned...
Not only are there countless Psalms, Proverbs & other old testament scriptures saying to sing & play instruments but Jesus & his disciples sang hymns after the last supper. Now I don't think that playing insturments or singing is necessary to worship; our every action should be worship! If we rely too much on Sunday and Wednesday activities then we are only seeking self gratifying emotions & not God's pleasure. But, if done in a heart of worship, music is an excellent (& Biblical) way to please God. Everything we do should be an act of worship according to scripture. If God blessed someone with the ability to play an instrument they should use the ability for God. (The story of the three servents who were given gifts shows the importance of using the gifts God gave us wisely).
Jesus said He came to fullfill the law not to take it away. We still need to follow the big ten & other laws. Because of the sacrifice that God made, the earthly consequence for sin no longer has to be so very harsh. We no longer need the motivation of the fear of being stoned,we can now have an intimate and forgiving relationship with God. We no longer have to worry about food, because disease is no longer a looming danger as it was back then. we still have to be careful with those "unclean" foods. God named them unclean because without the proper ability to clean and prepare they are dangerous, not because he likes making up rules. We can eat them now but carefully and thankfully. As far as sacrifices go (which is a huge part of the old law)we still have the make them, just not the bloody kind. Jesus died to totally eradicate sin, so now we don't have to kill animals. We still have to lay our own lives, wishes and past, present, future, on the altar for the slaughter. Because of the cross we can hang out with God without fear, but it still requires that we give our lives. With the Spirit's guidance we can see what God has to say to US through the "old law." In John, Jesus is described as the "Word of God." To throw out half of the Bible would be like cutting Jesus himself in half.
THE MAIN THING IS that we believe in the same God and that Jesus died for our sins and rose again. I don't expect for you to agree with me. Complete agreement is not what God requires, but he does require that we love one another and that we act as his body. A body against itself is dieing.
God Bless
krystal
