I've been here in Japan for a full year now. And I decided that since I had to spend a large chunk of today sitting in my apartment waiting for people to stop by to either pick something up or drop something off, I'd not only do some organising but I'd also have a look back on this last year.
So much has changed.
☆I am most definitely a better person for having come here.
☆I have made some wonderful friends who I hope will be with me for many years to come.
☆I have gone through about 3 crushes of varying levels since I got here.
☆I've seen more "tourist-y" things than I think I have over the span of my entire life before coming here.
☆I've joined fan clubs.
☆I've been to a concert - one that I wanted to go to.
☆I've been to a musical in a language that wasn't English and understood parts of it.
☆I found the wonder of karaoke.
☆I've been surfing.
☆I actually enjoy going to the beach now.
☆I eat so much more healthily for the most part.
☆I dress more girly now - because the sometimes random changes I take on aren't met with condescending noises from my family.
☆My despair at men has been lifted somewhat by a small group of 14/15 year old boys.
☆I now like "Hello Kitty".
I'm still not an extrovert by any means. On any given day off from work there's a 70-90% chance I will be doing something completely on my own. It's my default setting.
I'm proud that I'm here, proud that I'm doing another year, proud that I finally feel like I've found my place in the world.
To anyone out there who is working towards their goals and dreams.
If I can do it, you can do it too ☆
