“I hate you!” Nino moaned loudly hitting at his chest with little fists his legs wobbling just a little and Ohno gave a laugh his arm wrapping around his body holding him up. The rollercoaster hadn’t been that bad, okay it had sounded a little rickety but that was just the way that they were meant to be surely Nino realised that. He loved the feeling of rollercoasters and the danger that came with riding them. He supposed it was because his life was so completely ordered and controlled without him being able to do anything about it. Of course as he had gotten older his sleeping with men became his stress relief but he hadn’t forgotten the freedom that came from hurtling around a track.
“You seemed that you really liked it though…When you were on it!” He chuckled remembering the screams that Nino had let out. Never in his life had he imagined that the prince would be afraid of rollercoasters. It seemed to be a fundamental thing that all teenagers liked, all teenagers but the prince with the parchment white face and the glassy eyes. “Sorry…Look do you wanna go?”
“No! You promised me the ghost train!” Nino hissed clearly not scared enough from the rollercoaster to forget that. Ohno frowned sticking out his tongue at the little smirk that crossed over Nino’s face.
“Fine…But I get to say that I hate you after…” He grumbled tucking his arm around his and leading him through the maze of rides and stalls his eyes narrowed out for the ghost train. It was a place that he detested and he hoped that Nino would maybe feel the same when they went on it and the very least he could keep his eyes closed and his body pressed as close to Nino’s as possible. He gave a little smile thinking that this time maybe the ride wouldn’t be so bad after all.
His newfound enthusiasm for the ride only lasted until they were sat in the second lot of cars of the day. The man did the safety check and soon they were on their way moving alone the track and through the door painted with an overly cheesy picture of Dracula. Nino was leaning eagerly forward though and Ohno smiled glad that his boyfriend seemed to be finally having fun.
The first area that they came to was styled to look like a research lab that had been over taken by spiders. There were dummies on the floor half covered in the mist that had been swirling since they entered the ride. The floor boards creaked more than the rollercoaster had and Oho shuddered trying not to look at the fake dead bodies that were half cocooned in slivery strands of spider webs. The fake cotton like spider webs and little fake spiders would have been almost comical if it wasn’t for the real spiders in the glass cases that were all around them. There little fat bodies where pressed up against the glass and their legs were moving around frantically in a bid to get to them. He shuddered keeping as close to Nino as he could knowing that they hadn’t reached the worst parts of the ride yet.
The kart jerked them forward moving them through the mist and through a door that had them in a study now. On the wall above the fire place was a painting of a man. It didn’t seem like much but every now and then there was a flash of lightning and the picture turned to look at them. A chair beside the fire began to rock violently with a loud creaking sound that was so overdone it was silly but it still managed to send fear through him. The train drove right into the impossibly wide fireplace and then cut out.
*There seems to be something wrong with the ride…Please…Exit the train and walk towards the yellow area* A male voice came out and Ohno frowned honestly not expecting this. *Please do quickly and safely…*
“What…What do you thinks wrong?” Nino asked sounding genuinely scared as they pushed back the metal bars that was covering their legs and got out of the train. Ohno gave a shrug grabbing a hold of his hand as they walked towards the yellow area. There was a man dressed in a yellow coat holding an electronic light beckoning them over. The other two couples that had been on the train with them were all asking him questions but he just gave a shrug saying;
*Just follow me and stay together…*
The small party followed him through a hidden doorway in the hall surprised to see that they were in a storage/preparation area. It was probably ruining the mood for Nino either further but Ohno was almost relaxing knowing that if they had carried on any further they would have been in the room with the snake tanks. The sounds of a police siren started and Nino jumped beside him while the other two couples were looking at the man in a yellow coat or more accurately they were looking at the walkie-talkie in his hand that was crackling as a breathless sounding woman was gasping;
*John…John have you got them?*
*Yes…We’re heading out now…*
*Where are you?” The woman hissed back sounding urgent and John looked around for a minute pointing his torch at the wall before muttering;
*Near the snakes…Were heading through the emergency exit…*
*Don’t…* the woman hissed frantically now causing the fine line of hairs to creep on the back of his neck *The police want to come in through there…They said that you’ve got to walk them through the ride…*
*What? But wouldn’t it just be easier…* John mumbled casting a look at them over his shoulder and Ohno gripped a hold of Nino tightly tempted to call in the security team that he knew would be lurking somewhere nearby.
*…Just do what they say…And be careful…If he’s near the snakes…* The woman’s voice faded with a crackle of static and after John had tried to contact her a few more times he let out swear that had their entire group surging forward to ask him what the hell was going on.
*Everybody please…Just relax...There is just a small issue…You’ve heard that the police are here right? Everything will be okay if we just stay together…Okay?* John said turning around and walking confidently through them back the way they had come. *We’re just going to have to walk through the corridors…Okay?*
*Not until you’ve told us what the hell is going on…* One the English guys said and John gave a sigh biting on his lip and looking very reluctant before he mumbled;
*Fine…The girl on the radio…Her name is Emma she broke up with her boyfriend last week and well he’s been harassing her ever since…Apparently he’s on the ride now…Nobody knows what’s he’s doing but my job is to get you all off of here safely so if you want to follow me…*
“What…The fuck?” Nino swore his hand on his squeezing it so tightly that he was positive that his fingers were going to break but it didn’t really matter as he was too focused on the fear that was inside of him to care. A madman on a ghost train? It sounded so stupid but the man John seemed so sincere that they all started moving.
The effects of the ride died but it seemed even creepier without the sound tracks of fake laughing and thunder and once again Ohno felt the hand squeezing at his. From his right he heard a door banging and he was positive that his heart was trying to jump out of his chest. The girls that were with their partners screamed just a little until John hushed them into silence. They walked quickly along the train tracks with only the light of the torch to guide them. The plastic monsters and props were made all the more terrifying by the very real fear that was creeping its way up inside of them all.
John pushed open the door of the snake room and Ohno shivered moving even closer to Nino whose eyes were darting around the room at an almost alarming rate. They moved forward slowly until John gave a shout darting forward towards a tank that appeared to have been tampered with. The lid was halfway off and the extremely large glass case was empty.
*I have to try and find the snake…* John said handing Ohno the torch *Just keep moving…You’ll almost at the exit*
The group did as they were told, almost falling over themselves to leave the room all positive that every single shadow they came across was the snake. Loud bangs sounded out as they moved and by themselves the props came to life jumping out at them until they were all close to screaming. Soon though they could see daylight and hear the sounds of the fair forcing them to move as quickly as possible.
The door creaked open and to their surprise inside of the police cars they had heard while inside the ride everything was completely normal with more people lining up and the sour faced man from before looking at them passively.
“What…” Ohno whispered looking at Nino who gave a shrug looking just as confused as he was.
*Hope you enjoyed it* Their ‘guide’ laughed appearing out of nowhere holding the light in front of his face to give him weird angles and Ohno swore realising that they had been had. The whole thing had to have been a part of the ride. Rolling his eyes he handed the torch back to John and ran his fingers through his hair deciding that more than ever he hated the stupid ghost train. Nino on the other hand was sort of bent double laughing his head off looking like he was having the time of his life.
“That…That was brilliant!” He shouted “The best ghost train ever!”
