Pairings:  Sakurai Sho/Aiba Masaki, Ohno Satoshi/Ninomiya Kazunari
Disclaimer: I only own the plot,

I wrote this a few days ago but didn’t use it as it didn’t fit with the main Alpha and Omega story but since vicco_vicky asked for a side story I thought I make it into a Side Story.

Masaki watched nervously as the three alphas of the pack stood in a strange triangle formation around Sho and Shun. Neither of them looked scared and logically there should be no reason for them to be. The awakening wasn’t a painful process and if it wasn’t successful they would just carry on their lives as normal. Of course the changes would be painful for Sho at least. Shun should be young enough for his body to grow accustomed to it quite quickly. Erika though insisted that she, with the help of the medication that she had developed for Nino, could help to smooth the pain of Sho’s transformations.

At that thought Masaki allowed his eyes to move to the Alpha-Omega who was helping in the awakening. He was looking healthier again now which was the reason that they had finally been able to hold the awakening. He hadn’t had a violent reaction to the pills in months and the thinning of his hair and the weakening of his limbs had also faded into nothing more than an unpleasant memory. In the earlier days of the treatments Masaki had wanted to throw out the pills or attack the female beta for encouraging him to take them but he knew that if they could get it right for Nino then there was every chance that the children of their pack, who all suffered as much as Nino did with their transformation, could be helped too. It had all been for a good reason but when he had watched Nino with no strength to hold his son he had been almost too much to bear. Satoshi had gotten him through that sitting with them both on his lap and allowing Nino to use the strength of his arms to hold their baby.

Now it seemed that the combination was working and Nino was back to being himself again. He still hadn’t managed to make a painless transformation but they were sure that that would come in time and with the right tweaking. Erika was working herself into what was going to be an early grave but she had Mao with her who made her stop and join the land of the living whenever she could.

The alpha and omega pair were an inspiration when it came to it and Masaki had drawn on their example when he had thought that he and Sho were too different to work. There had been some serious arguments between them but they had gotten through it together and they would get through the changes together too, he told himself as he looked at Sho again who was reassuring Shun with a smile and happy words. Masaki had never been to an awakening before and had no real idea on how it worked. He knew that the full moon was involved and the drinking of blood which all seemed medieval but there were some things that the humans had gotten right. Werewolf legends had come about from the awoken werewolves after all.

He looked up at the sky and saw that the moon was finally completely over them and he could feel a prickle in his spine. He knew that something was going to happen and he let his eyes fall back onto the five people in the middle of the clearing. Ohno had moved forward and was holding a wooden goblet which he knew contained the blood of the three present. He presented it to Shun first, as the youngest he was the most likely to have a smooth transformation and awakening and they didn’t want him to be scared out of doing it by seeing his brother’s reaction.

“Do you want to drink, Shun?”

“…If I do…I can be like you and transform!” Shun asked in his painfully childlike way and Masaki wanted to run over and hug him and stop it but he held himself form telling himself that the awakening couldn’t hurt him or Sho. If it didn’t work, they would just have some blood in them which was no worse than blood pudding. Ohno smiled and nodded saying;

“Yes…If It works…”

“I wanna drink!” Shun said cheerfully taking the goblet almost immediately and pressing it to his lips. Masaki watched as he drank his heart catching in his mouth as they waited for a few moments. At first it seemed like nothing was happening but them he frowned and almost dropped the goblet folding over in two before giving a twitch and then a shudder before a full body jerk caused him to transform swiftly into a dusty brown wold with large ears and a long tail which brushed against the earth. The newly transformed pup ran in circles for a moment or two tripping over his own feet a few times before changing back and letting out an excited shout “I didded it! Nii-chan too!”

“Sho…Do you want to drink?” Satoshi asked looking at Masaki’s boyfriend and Masaki stopped breathing as the man nodded and then took the wooden goblet in his hands. His eyes turned to look at his for a moment and Masaki was sure that he smiled as he tipped the goblet back and drank what was left of the blood. His eyes never left Sho’s as they waited. The time that passed was far longer than Shun’s and Masaki took a breath positive that it hadn’t worked. It was disappointing he supposed but he knew that they would deal with it.

Sho was about to hand the goblet back over when it slipped from his hand and he began clawing at his chest his eyes and veins bulging, His body shook violently and he rocked backwards and forwards with his hands over his face. Pained sounds emitted from his mouth as his skin began to bubble and then change as he dropped down to his knees clutching at the earth and whimpering. Masaki moved forward but it was like his feet were made of heavy weights and he could barely move them. He knew that the transformation was happening he could hear the breaking of bones and the resetting of them. Rusty brown fur erupted from is bod and his eyes glowed amber as they once again looked at him.

Masaki transformed himself and padded over to him ignoring the voices and calls from the three alphas before he rubbed his face against Sho’s letting out soothing noises that appeared to work as the whimpers stopped and Sho finished his change into a beta wolf. It was unexpected as Masaki thought that they would be more like omegas but both he and Shun were beta he could smell it just as much as he could smell the strange scent that came from Yumehiko. The boy wasn’t an alpha but he wasn’t an omega he was the best of both it seemed and his life was going to be an interesting one because of it. Sho’s wolf flopped down into the floor and Masaki nuzzled at him a few more times until he felt small paws knocking at him and he released that Shun had changed back and was eager to play in his new form. He shot Sho a glance and the beta got unsteadily to his feet moving with them and getting used to the fact that he had four legs instead of two.

The strange new family, for that was what they were, ran off into the night with Masaki happily showing his mate and his adopted pup the best bits of being a wolf. It was only a matter of course that they completed their bond that night under the moon.

THE END
A/N: I said this was originally a throw away part of Alpha and Omega but I hope that it might answer a few more questions :) anyway seriously that is is from this Universe!
