After the club part 58
“Are you scared?” Satoshi asked him two nights later when they were finally ready for him to head back into the club. Jun had insisted on it taking so long as he wanted his own cameras everywhere and more officers coming in from further afield that wouldn’t be recognised by any of theirs. It seems that the police commissioner had decided that to take Toma’s warning about a spy seriously and Nino was glad that at least somebody was in the club even if he wouldn’t recognise them. It was nerve wrecking; he would admit that in the privacy of his own mind but at the same time was just as scary walking down the street at the moment at least now he was doing something.
“…A little but I know that it will be fine…” He said with about as big a smile as he could manage and Satoshi leaned forward and pressed a kiss to his forehead before pressing his own against him.
“Don’t do anything stupid, little fish…” He whispered in an almost begging tone and Nino nodded slowly while trying hard not to roll his eyes while at the same time loving the protective attitude. “…Jun has told me that I’m not allowed to be with you for most of the evening as it’s unlikely that they would approach you while you’re with me but promise me that you won’t take any needless risks…”
“…I doubt that they would even be in the building tonight…” Nino shrugged and he felt Satoshi press his forehead even closer to his as he growled;
“I’ve been keeping you away from them…They will be desperate…I have no doubt that they will be in the club tonight…”
“I’ll be careful I promise Satoshi…You’re like my guardian angel…” Nino grinned pressing his lips to those of the older man and Satoshi gave a half smile that soon slipped away as he muttered;
“If I was I wouldn’t have let this happen…”
“You didn’t…It was all my choice…It wasn’t as though you forced me into…Being with you…” Nino hesitated over his choice of words. A few days ago he had admitted that he was finally in love with Satoshi but so far Satoshi hadn’t responded and he found himself something at a loss at how to deal with that. He was sure that Satoshi loved him he showed him every day and told him in more than words several times a day but he wanted to hear him actually say those words out loud. Unfortunately, today wouldn’t be that day as Jun decided to walk in and stare at them with lowered eyelids and a stiff jaw. “I’m not…I mean…”
“…Are you ready to go? We should have you in the club before it is open…”
“…Of course…Come on, little fish…Let’s get this show on the road…” Satoshi told him taking his hand and leading him passed Jun who reached out with an arm and stopped him from moving any further before saying softly in his ear.
“Be careful Ninomiya…We’ve got your back but anything can happen out there…” Nino was genuinely surprised by the depths of emotion that were in his voice and in his eyes as he looked him over. He was so used to seeing Jun with such a hard expression that he barely seemed human but now he looked like he actually had human emotions and he wasn’t sure how to react “Understand?”
“Yes, sir, I promise I will do my best to honour the uniform…” Nino nodded about to keep walking but was surprised by the strength Jun was able to put into his arm to keep him there before he said;
“Do your best to stay alive that’s all I care about…Now get on with it…”
