Help

I have a question and am asking some advice from my friends and kitty experts.

Last week my daughter got an adorable 9 week old black and white kitten named Ace. (see below)

While extremely thin he's fattening up nicely and is a very sweet lovey, VOCAL little darling. The problem? Sirius seems to be intent on ripping the poor little thing to shreds or at least using him like a playtoy. While Ace wanders and explores, Sirius will stalk, swat, pounce, bite and just generally be much more aggressive than we're comfortable with towards Ace. The solution so far is to not leave them unsupervised and blasting Sirius with his water bottle as well as verbal reprimands. We're also trying to give Sirius extra love and attentionas well as treats.
A friend at work said that Tomcats will behave this way towards a kitten and he should improve as Ace gets older and bigger. Part of the reason we'd gotten another kitty was as a companion for Sirius as he often seems lonely, bored and wanting someone/thing to play with.

I'd appreciate any suggestions anyone might have to help the boys co-habitat in a loving and friendly matter. Sirius actually frightened the kitten so badly the other night that Carly's dog attacked him to get him away from Ace, and Sabby LOVES Sirius!

Thanks guys.

ace, sirius
