Anime Reactor - Day 2

Oct 21, 2006 22:16

I promise to post pictures tomorrow, since my computer doesn't have the ISB cable I need to upload camera pics into my computer. And since I don't know where my dad is hiding it, I need to wait until tomorrow to show off the pics I took. Shout-out to Liz for being efficient and already blogging this day.

It was a good day today. There was a lot of stuff bought and a lot of anime discussed. The Kamikaze Roku-tachi have decided we should one day host a 'How to write fanfiction' panel at ACen. The techniques would consist of great suggestions like, "when going for drama, be sure to jab the knife in, then twist it around really really hard to make your audience cry" and "try harder, dammit!" In the end, I actually left Reactor with more energy than I usually have when leaving ACen. No surprise, I guess, as ACen is ten times bigger, but it was still nice to leave a con with all five senses fully intact. I had a good time, and found much swag that left me extremely pleased.

On a side note of things that have nothing to do with Reactor, I went to try and sell raffle tickets again. For those who don't know, I was conned into helping my church sell expensive raffle tickets. Not only that, but I was also conned into being the head of the sales committee. So I got to the haunted house my church is hosting and try to sell these tickets (which are quite expensive, really). But today, one of the women working at admissions brought her son along. He's an active little seven-year-old, and obviously bores easily. His mother didn't bring anything for him to do (duuuuh), so he sat with me right nearby. And to keep him from getting too bored and bothersome, I told him a lot of stories.

Of which many of you would find familiar. I told him a story about a boy catching a shooting star and eating it, then finding a friend in cursed little girl. I told him about "animal magic", which involves people that are attuned to special animals and have special talents to go with it. So I told him about a boy bonded to an eagle, one bonded to a wolf, one bonded to an owl, and one bonded to a leopard. And yes, the last one DID live a long and happy life in this version. ^__^;;

Needless to say, I had a very rapt audience through most of the night. Ah, so nice to know that my storytelling skills aren't going to waste.

Anime swag purchased: Two Mai-HiME figures and a phone strap, a stainless steel fan with silk, a pair of sais for a friend, and some pocky for my coworker.
Money spent today: $111
Total amount spent: $155 - only five dollars over my self-inflicted budget!
