London = Heaven

In the next month alone, there's like a hundred concerts I want to go to. We've booked tickets for Goldfrapp, The Faint, Asobi Seksu, and Ladytron, but I'm being awfully tempted by the Asian Dub Foundation, The Holloways, Sigur Ros, The Jesus and Mary Chain, Underworld, The Temptations, The Killers, Snow Patrol, Leonard Cohen, Chuck Berry, Keane, TV on the Radio, Stereolab, Madness, Little Richard, The Damned, The Prodigy, plus (a bit/lot less interest) Elton John, The Who, Tracy Chapman, Queen, Coheed and Cambria, Coldplay, Ani Difranco, Ben Folds, Death Cab for Cutie (just saw them), Living Colour, Level 42, Human League, Bananarama (come on, 80s music rules), Simply Red, Kajagogo, etc. All in the next month or so! All a short tube/subway ride away (none of this having to drive or bum a ride to some gawdawful far place in Concord or Mountain View)! And this is only about 1/100th of the fairly major shows playing!

And OMG, there are so many plays and other theatrical shows playing that it's not even funny (TimeOut London shows 160 unique shows playing in the next 7 days, just in London). We've seen Wicked and Monty Python's Spamalot, so far, but we'll probably see Avenue Q (again), Zorro, Phantom of the Opera, Agatha Christie's The Mousetrap, Oedipus, and a bunch of other lesser-known shows going on.

Did I mention the festivals? It seems every time we pass by Trafalgar Square there's something going on, whether it's a celebration of the end of Ramadan, Diwali (Hindu festival of light), or an outdoor screening from some entry from the London Film Festival, currently going on.

And I just found out that we missed a book signing and reading today by Neil Gaiman. Gah. Too.. much.. to.. do. It's so hard to figure out what's going on, because the 'what to do' lists are so long that it's almost impossible to sort through.

Anyway, sorry for the exuberance and name dropping, I'm still fairly giddy over being here. ^___^
