Things that have happened since my last update:
- Completed seasons 1-3 of the new Doctor Who. It's pretty cheesy, but like athlete's foot and some parasitic flies from South America, it grows on you.
- Received what was possibly the worst haircut of my life, from Alva. Subsequently and unrelatedly, got married.
- Upgraded to Firefox 3. Unimpressed so far, but the jury is still out.
- Discovered The Fail blog. Schadenfreude FTW!
- Booked air tickets on 9/9 to London. One way tickets. Including for the cat. Possibly related to having just been awarded our renewable three-year work/live visa for the UK.
- Visited Portland, OR, over the long 4th of July weekend. It was great meeting up with friends and family and it'll suck not seeing them again for awhile. (sniff)(tear)(sniff)
- Finished Halo 3 and Mass Effect, put countless hours into Rock Band, and leveled a couple more chars to 50 in LOTRO. Yay loserdom!
- Became infatuated with Kingdom of Loathing. Mostly got over it rather quickly.
- Completed a couple release updates on AskCity, the thing I get paid to work on occasionally. Began working with All Music Guide data - I now have huuuuge tracts of, er, well, info on every artist, album, and track EVAAARRRR RELEASED. Fine, fine, being an engineer isn't really that sexy, so sometimes we exaggerate the interest levels of our work from time to time. =)
- Donated some funds to Obama - something I've never done in the past, or ever even remotely considered, but this guy is the real deal. I thought it impossible to ever see a candidate with integrity on a national ticket, but he just continues to impress me and eat away at my jaded shell of political angst and disenchantment. Perhaps it won't be so embarrassing to be an American, if the nation makes the right (or, er, left) decision in November. There may be others whose political beliefs I side a bit more with, but none with this degree of viability and, well, to beat a dead horse... integrity.
- Bought a nose hair trimmer from the dying husk of The Sharper Image. For, errr, the cat. Ya. The cat. Dear god, why am I mentioning this?
