I have to write a paper about an essay that talks about sentences such as "Vulcan does not exist," Vulcan being the name of the planet that some people used to think was between Mercury and the Sun. But if 'Vulcan' does not refer to anything, then how can we predicate anything on it (such as nonexistence?).
But really I was just thinking about our fire door. It's a big non-wooden door that I think is supposed to keep fire from spreading through it. Wouldn't it be ironic if you were trying to escape a fire and tried to go through the fire door but the fire door was stuck for some reason and you died.
