But then I saw Christie Yant's already done it, and said everything way better than I could. If you stress about short fiction cover letters, you should check it out.

Heh. Well, it's not so much that I've seen a lot of bad ones, as that I know some people *really* stress out about them. And Yant does a great job of telling it exactly like it is.

Yeah, I pretty much only look at word count and who it's from in the cover letters now - mostly so I know if I have time to read the whole thing on my lunch break or not.

But seriously, it feels pretty good to have confirmation that it's my stories I need to work on, not my cover letters.

I know, right? The cover letters I write now are totally boring ass boring. But that's exactly how it should be - it's the story that's got to be great.
