So you might've heard about some upcoming comic book movie adaptations:
Batman 3: All the rampant rumors about who was going to play who in Nolan's Batman 3 were driving me nuts, so
thank God they finally confirmed some casting. Intrigued by Tom Hardy as Bane. Kind of surprised Nolan's going the Catwoman route, TBH. Not exactly sure how Anne Hathaway beat out Rachel Weisz for the part, but I think Hathaway is charming, and I think it could be worse. (No, I never saw Catwoman, the trailers were bad enough for me.)
Captain America:
The director likes his own movie. That's probably a good thing, though I'd be surprised if he admitted he didn't. And for what it's worth, I will be extremely pissed off if they mess up Captain America. (Thor - despite my love for Kenneth Branagh, I only care so much about. And really? Magic = science, Thor? I dunno. I'll probably still check it out, but I really want to see Cap fight Nazis and the Red Skull.)
Spider-man Reboot: I was incredibly skeptical about this when I first heard about it, but now, the more I read and
see about it, the more I can't wait to see this thing. I especially love that they're going a completely different route than the Raimi films did. Peter Parker's going to be a high schooler for the whole movie, not just the first act. And Gwyn Stacey is going to be in it, and so is her dad! Oh, and The Lizard! I'm so excited I'm wondering if Claire will be old enough to watch this when it comes out. (Probably not. Maybe on DVD?)
(And yes, I still want to see Spider-man: Turn Off the Dark, too.)
X-Men: First Class: Man, this is a wildcard. I'm holding out hope for it, despite
the truly godawful first picture we've seen of it. I love that it's going to be a movie that takes place in the 60s, that they're going to do the parallels between MLK, Malcolm X, Xavier, and Magneto and all that. Not at all sure if it's going to match-up at all to the other X-Men films at all (frex: Havok, but no Cyclops? But it's fucking Havok, so I don't care!), and Vaughan's directing it, so it's gotta be better than X3 (which he bailed on.) Right? RIGHT?!?!?!
Of course, I still want to see Aronofsky's Wolverine like no other.
