Superman and Batman? Snickty, Snickty, Snakt!!!

Everyone's talking about Batman 3 (yay Tom Hardy) and Superman Begins. (Zach Snyder? Well, it'll look interesting at least. And yes, I know it's not called Superman Begins, but I'm calling it that anyway.)

Potentially cool stuff to be sure, but that's all I'm gonna say about that. I want to talk about Darren Aronokfsky potentially directing the next Wolverine movie. As Jay would say, Snickty, Snickty, Snakt!"

Look, I've been dreaming of a badass Wolverine movie since I was ten and I saw that mutant tear through a group of thugs with claws in Marvel Comics Presents. And I stared at the panel for a few minutes realizing that those were claws coming out of Wolverine's hands and what exactly he was doing with said claws. He wasn't Batman - he wasn't just hurting people. He was dangerous. And he was totally awesome.

Since then, we've gotten two great X-Men movies, one terrible one, and a really mediochre Wolverine spin-off. So, yeah, when I see Darren Aronofsky maybe possibly  might be reteaming with Hugh Jackman to do Wolverine IN JAPAN, I get a little giddy.

And when I see fans whining about it, I get a little pissed off. You don't like the guy because...what? He directed Pi, Requiem for a Dream, and The Wrestler? WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU?!?! Are you seriously worried because he'd make a dark Wolverine movie? Are you seriously worried he could make a movie worse than the last one?

FFS people, I want a badass, dark, brooding Wolverine movie. I want equivalent of The Dark Knight of Wolverine movies. Aronofsky's been trying to do something all-out geeky for years now, from Batman: Year One to Robocop and Superman Begins. (Okay, I'm glad he's not doing Superman Begins, too.) So please yes let him make an awesome Wolverine movie. Wolverine needs to be awesome and dark and rouge-ish again. He needs to be dangerous. Seriously? the only other director I think would make me happier is David Fincher.

So give it to Aronofsky, bub. He's one of the best at what he does, and what he does isn't very nice, but it is awesome.

x-men, wolverine, movies
