A lot of people were worried last night's LOST "The Package" would be a letdown after last week's "Ab Aeterno." Well, not for me!!!!
Dessssssssssssssssssmuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuundooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!
Okay, sorry. Just had to get that out of my system, brutha!
I liked the focus back on Sun and Jin - I liked that in the sideways world they weren't married, but were generally happy, aside from that whole hiding their relationship from Sun's father (who tried to have Sun "popped" when he found out about it).
On the island, it looks like Sawyer's con isn't going over so well, especially with Locke going over to Hydra to "get back" Jin. Instead, he sends Sayid to figure out what's in the sub's locker. (I was kind of holding out hope it was Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaalt, but I'll happily take Desmond.) I enjoyed seeing Richard back on track in his spiritual guide role - back with a purpose. Speaking of purposes, Jack seemed so much like old Jack - it's nice to see him smiling and confident again, this new man of faith. His final conversation with Sun was a nice note to end on, and really gave a sense of hope.
And now Charlie Widmore wants to go off and save the world - save Penelope, Ji Yeon (nice acting by Daniel Dae Kim, BTW - I got a little fist in my throat watching him flip through the pictures on the camera), and save everyone else. By sacrificing Desmond, it'd seem. Man, I know some people aren't going to make it to the end of this show, but I'm going to be seriously bummed if Desmond, Penny, and baby Charlie don't get their happily ever after. Ditto the Kwon family. But I get the distinct impression people are going to start dying soon - like next week - and Desmond may very well be one of them. I'd love to see exactly what Widmore was told so long ago while he was on-island about the smoke monster. What they were all told, and how the Others reacted to it. Especially when it seemed to be at Ben's beck and call.
In the sideways world we're treated to a slow painful death of Martin Keamy! What's not to love? One thing I'm really enjoying about sideways LOST is seeing all these people who have died previously, or something else, show up again. It's a really cool way of revisiting the characters, without taking away from their deaths, and without it being a big clip show. Nice to see Mikhail again, even if it was just to get shot in the eye. Unfortunately, Sun took a hit, and that doesn't look good, especially considering she's pregnant.
So things in the sideways world don't look all sunshine and rainbows as it originally seemed they might be. Charlie's still an addict (but alive, at least, I guess), Sayid's a killer, Kate's a fugitive, and Sun's just been shot - while pregnant. I'm very interested to see how this all plays out.
Fun to see people get zapped with little whispering darts like the good old days. And yay for Room 23! That was unexpected but cool.
One thing I'm confused about is why UnLocke bothers to chase people through the jungle. I mean, why not just smoke-monster out? I also feel slightly bad that Miles and Lapidus really have nothing to do this season but play lots of cards (aside from Miles being awesome in the sideways world, that is). At least they get some snappy one-liners, I guess. And I loved Ilana responding to Ben's "Why do you think I'm lying?" with, "Because you're talking."
So those are my thoughts for right now. What'd you all think?
