Look! It's my name on the cover of a magazine!!!
Or you can gaze at the amazing wraparound cover - both illustrated by the Amazing
Vincent Chong! Who, incidentally, has a
brand new website and blog you can all go and check out. (Cool fact - Vinny Chong uses the St. D. art on his stationary!)
Yes, I'm very excited! That's
Murky Depths #11 - and it's available for order now. If you grab it, you'll find the latest story set in the "Saint Darwin's Spirituals" world. Sing the praises of Vinny's artwork here at the
MD forum, if you have time. And - as
some of you know already - just like last time, the awesome
Variant Frequencies has put together an incredibly killer podcast, so you can hear
"Heart of Clay" for free. Now, I know I'm a little biased, but I have to say I think it sounds pretty awesome. Seriously, Rick Stringer is just a badass when it comes to podcast production. And the cast is in top form. Ali Groves and Dani Cutler reprise their parts - and then there's killer new voice work from Marck Pearlstone and the one and only Alasdair Stuart (you thought that post title was a fake-out, huh? Mwahahahaha). Honestly, I'd never heard Marck Pearlstone read before, but he's awesome in this. Personally, I wish he had a bigger role.
Like I mentioned before, this is something of a sequel to the original, slightly more sexy
"Saint Darwin's Spirituals" (frex: I didn't blush while listening to this one). But when I wrote this story, I worked hard to make it accessible to anyone who hadn't read/listened to the original. So hopefully any new listeners will be a-okay!
When I set out to write a sequel - my idea was to create a story with a unique hero and a sweeter kind romance. Also, I've always wanted to see a golem fight a group of vampires, so this seemed like as good a time as any! Turns out golem vs. vampires is pretty brutal!
So thanks to everyone who helped with this one - especially my awesome
betas, and also
anne_stringer,
Matt Wallace, Terry Martin, Rick Stringer, and the awesome voice talent. You guys all rock!
I guess that's pretty much it. Oh, one more thing: if you like the story, please please please let Rick, Anne, and Matt know. That way, hopefully, they'll be interested in running another one.
