You All Everybody! Ask Not What Your PodCastle Can Do For You...
Yes, it's official: I'm now the co-editor of PodCastle with the amazing and dangerous Anna Schwind. The announcement was posted New Year's Eve, but I haven't really had a chance until now to sit down and write about it.
We've joked some that I'm the friendly neigborhood editor and Anna's Meen Pie, but I'm not sure that's really the case. I'd known Anna online before we started working at PodCastle together, but after working closely with her for the past 4-5 months (heh, virtually speaking), I can say she's altogether excellent, and I don't think I could've asked for a better partner to be working with on this here PodCastle.
As long time readers know, I've been a HUGE fan of the Escape Artist podcast family since I first stumbled across the fantastic Escape Pod Steve Eley created. With Escape Pod, Eley almost single-handedly taught me to love short fiction again, and I made my first short fiction sale to their sister podcast Pseudopod. So as you can imagine, I'm nothing short of thrilled to be giving back to this family of podcasts.
I want to publically thank Rachel Swirsky, for asking me to help do this in the first place. We've become friends over the last six months, and I've learned an incredible amount from her. And I fully believe she's going to blow all our minds with the places she's going in the future. I'm going to do everything I can to make her proud.
I also want to give a huge thanks to Ann Leckie and Anna for being a true to pleasure to work with. We're all really excited about the continuing adventures of PodCastle.
So...what else can I say? Ah...yes, send us the best kick-ass fantasy stories you have for us to read (the guidelines are here). Reprints preferred, of course, but we're also open to originals. We're looking for the best of the best!
