Fellow Struggling and Aspiring Writers: Great Interviews

Jun 20, 2008 08:38

I got a double dose of Mur Lafferty and Matt Wallace yesterday: first, I heard them both on Shaun Farrell's excellent Adventures in Sci-Fi Publishing.  I met Shaun really briefly at last year's Conjecture, and he comes off as one of those guys you'd just like to have a couple of drinks with.  Which is probably part of the reason why his podcast works so well.  It's a kick in the pants to hear about Mur selling Playing For Keeps to Swarm Press *and* all the other stuff she's got going on (3-4 podcasts, the News from Poughskeepie, *and* 2 upcoming novels!?!).  The equally busy Wallace needs to be careful, though.  If he keeps this up, I'm going to start expecting him to mention me in every interview he does.

Also, on the way home from work I jammed to the latest I Should Be Writing which featured Mur interviewing Tim Pratt!  It was a GREAT interview -- one all aspiring and struggling writers should listen to.  Also, post-interview, Mur gets righteously pissed-off at people, which had me pumping my fist in the air.  Probably not a good thing to be doing while driving through rush hour traffic, but there it is.

Finally, the last episode of Stranger Things "Latchkeepers" serial is up and I'm seriously bummed it's all over.  No promise of next season, I think this is it.  But now you can check out the awesomeness of all three episodes: roughly 40 minutes of great SF.
