in class we're learning about some theory where a system, or an attractor as they call it, strives to maintain its integrity and when there are 2 systems that tend to flip back and forth from each other you can never predict when, and you can never predict for how long they'll stay in either system. however, the area between those two systems is a no-man's land. it's mathematical chaos. and if a system is ever in that zone it cannot stay there for long. you're either in or out, you can't be both. everything ends somewhere. this vague sense of chaos and indecision, all these feelings of confusion at some point will end. you can't stay stuck in the middle forever. but you can go back and forth forever, i suppose. but if you're ever strung out between two options or at a loss for which way to go, there is comfort (and panic) in knowing you can't stay this way forever.
