Last Time I Saw You
The last time I saw you,
You were a mess.
I hated the moment,
When our eyes met.
Your stare shot through me,
Piercing my soul.
Your eyes, they froze me,
Leaving me cold.
I saw the little girl,
You held in your arms.
Every day I pray to God,
You do her no harm.
Your face seemed older,
Your hair turning gray.
I said to myself,
“I’ll never forget this day.
You came here amongst,
These broken hearts,
But you were the only one you were thinking of,
From the very start.”
My eyes leave yours,
No longer want to look,
Into the eyes of a man,
Who never gave but took.
