• I'm just a face in the crowd.
Well I get to go home. Things have been hectic around here. I had two options I could pursue. The hard way, or the easy way.
Remember the hard way is ALWAYS more rewarding. I met with my Dean yesterday and she wrote an e-mail to the Director of Housing "recommending" that he pro-rate my stay here. That flew over like a paper-mache whale (not at all). He told me that, again, his office will take the same action that the Bursar takes; they will either give 100% back, or they will give nothing. At that point they were going to give me nothing. I decided to visit the Bursar.
I figure if you want something done right, you go to the top. I have worked in Corporate America before. I know how things go. Shit flows downhill, money flows up. I find myself on the bottom more and more.
I talked to the Head Supervisor of the Bursar. He was attentive. He listened to my story, more than half of it laced with subterfuge at this point, and told me there was nothing he could do. He did give me an edge. He told me to visit a friend of his upstairs. He said to call first. His friend is Doctor Keith Harrison; Vice President of Financial and Academic Affairs. "If anyone can help you it would be Keith".
Talk about going to the top.
I call his office right away. I am tired of being given the run-around and double-talk. His secretary asks when the soonest I can come in is. I say, "I am standing in the lobby". "Great! We are on the third floor, take a left when you step off the elevator, we are at the end of the hall.
Dr. Keith reminds me of God in a swivel chair. Ancient, wise, firm but compassionate. He sees my problem and shrugs it off. Says we can go over all their heads if I fill out this form and we will get this settled within the hour. I fill out the form.
After I have the form, with his powerful signature, my word is law; his signature emblazoned is pure gold. Many question what my business was with him, or why I went over their heads; angry, hurt, and jealous that I got to talk to the Wizard and they are still waiting in accounting for their hearts, and brains. Like demons cast down in the anointing, they hiss when they see that I managed to get his signature. They are defeated.
Nothing can stop me now. I am getting 100% of everything returned to it's rightful owners. It's like I was never here.
See you soon,
