Eragon

• Eragon

I saw the trailer... A movie (adapted from a book), It will be as mediocre as the books itself, derivative of a 15 year olds imagination, his love for Tolkien and StarWars. There are no original ideas, however some are more glaring than others.

• The Dragons don't even look as good as Dragon Heart, or the Dragon in Harry Potter.
• The book is contrived from stories VERY similar to the Dragon Riders of Pern, and the Dragon Lance series.

• On Dragons...

I cannot tolerate the alliance with, or adoration of, Dragons. Those who study it should find the word Dragon the same as Greater-Demon. "Dragons give you magic", that line hit it home there. Throughout our own history there are those who have made pacts with Dragons. Demons are beings of greed and alien intelligence. Lawyers of the abyss who seek to rope in the souls of mortals to do their bidding for the war to come. There is no loophole in a pack made with a Dragon, they will not be "tricked". Cold and ancient, they have brooded the unmaking of creation for all eternity. Would you seek to be almighty in this life, for eternal suffering in the next? What is a man that he should gain the entire world, if he should loose his own soul while doing so?
We live in a world of apathetic and lazy kids who would -rather- use the excuse of magic, than seek conventional or realistic solutions. In an area of Mages, I have learned that even should you have access to an Arcane power of non-demonic origin, one should only use it as an equalizer not a solution to all of life's little problems (Luke Skywalker did not use the force to brush his teeth). Harry Potter, I dream of Jeanie, the Covenant; would all be very different if the truth was they had received their power from an Ancient Demon or Dragon. That Arcane power that is not channeled through man as the will of God is an effort to usurp his will.
Magic -is- real, but it's source is never holy. Tread lightly for here there be Dragons. The warning is as ancient as the Demons they embolden...

Dragons in Fiction
Saint George slayer of Dragons.
Revelation 12
Fallen Angel

•I will have to remember all this when I run my next WoD game on Friday.

Acamoth
Idigam
Cthulhu

And after I have written all this I am reminded: I am going to go see the band "Dragon Force" on the 5th of October. Oh how hypocritically we can be. Whereas Music it'self is an act of adoration that gives strength to the spirits (Lesser and Greater) around us. I find it ironic that the Morning Star oversaw the music in Heaven before his fall.
