This is how it works: Comment on this entry and I will give you a letter. Write ten words beginning with that letter in your journal, including an explanation what the word means to you and why, and then pass out letters to those who want to play along.
JJJ - One of the few radio stations worth listening to. Usually listen to Full Metal Racket, specifically metal god, in bed before I doze off.
John Frusciante - Guitarist from Chili Peppers. His style was heavily influenced by Hillel Slovack, the previous guitarist of Chili Pepper fame. Threw in the towel in the middle of the Blood Sugar Sex Magik, whilst in Japan because he "couldn't cope". He was in the middle of a drug addiction to heroin at the time. He released a few solo albums b/w stints with the Chilis, the haunting sound of his addiction is fairly evident. Since coming clean he got involved with RHCP on Californication and released somewhat lighter solo projects, but they tend to have that sombre mood of previous projects. For the most part today he plays with his sleeves rolled down to hide his track marks.
J - From theology - The source used by Yahwist/Jehovists scholoars. Or someshit like that.
J - aka Joint. A slang term for a joint.
Jambalaya - A rice based dish popular in Creole/Cajun cooking. The rice forms the basis of the dish, along with the three essentials of onions, celery and bell peppers/chillis, a spicy based sausage adds to the rest of the base. Was also a soup the Soup Nazi of Seinfeld fame sold at his premises.
Jazz - The most soulful of music, the traditions of jazz has its roots within West African culture and draws upon such sources as New England hymns, hillbilly music and also European marching band styles.
**The fucker closed and reset my post, which was fairly long so been cut short.
Jay and Silent Bob - My least favourite of the Askewniverse films by Kevin Smith, but doesn't mean it's not fresh. Had other info but can't be arsed typing. Oh yeah had Kevin Smith's real life wife and daughter in it.
Jabberwocky - One of my favourite poems, by Lewis Carrol it first appeared in Through the Looking Glass, and what Alice Found there. It's considered one of the greatest (and rightly so) nonsensical poems, and has even effected the English language through the creation of words such as Galumph, vorpal and chortle. *Originally this was like a paragraph, but yeah cut short)
Janis Joplin - Born in 1943, she was famous for her raspy voice and take on folk and rock music. The first true female rocker, she died (in 1970) before her final album was released Pearl a collaborative effort with Paul Rothchild, producer for The Doors, from a pure heroin overdose, which wasn't an often occurence during the 60s and 70s (the purity that is)
Josef Stalin - Crazy Russian leader guy, once again had done a fair bit but as you know I'm oh so lazy.
