[A sigh escapes Rue's lips as the SFC clicks on.
In the background, you can see the plaza--and she's wet, like any other newcomer might be. She isn't one, of course, but she has been gone for a while, and has now reappeared as if she were one.
She doesn't look too happy about it.]
Really, now, Vatheon. I think once was more than enough.
[She's not

A wet person who uses the name 'Vatheon' in that way...? It's been a little while since she saw a stranger remarking on, evidently, returning to Vatheon.]
Have you fond yourself in a fountain for a second time?
Reply
[...What, do people actually play in those? On purpose?]
But this is the second time I've woken up like this, yes. What's it to you?
[Who are you, anyway?]
Reply
[And that remark clarifies that she did understand correctly.]
I want to understand how it is that some people return with their memories of this place and others don't. Do you have any recollection of events on your way back there, or here?
Reply
[The first being Muraki.]
I remember events taking place here.
There just seems to be...a strange gap.
[The last thing she remembers is those strange fish monsters :|]
Reply
Unusual, others I've spoken to who were returned and abducted anew either remembered nothing of their time here, or remembered here and some new events back in their home worlds. I wonder what caused the difference.
Reply
This place never has made sense to me. But even the smallest changes can cause a story to move in a different direction, I suppose...
[Smiling a bit cryptically now, and she adds, after a pause:]
Who are you, anyway?

[Kanaya trails off, as a discussion of time, fate and free will can wait. Now is the time for introductions.]
Kanaya Maryam. I should have offered my name from the beginning. And I don't think I know yours.

[...she is suddenly staring very interestedly at the screen, behind him. The room looks familiar, she realizes.]
...Do you live in the Larmline apartments as well?
Reply
Yeah I do. Do you mean you do too? That's a surprising coincidence.
[Let us compromise. Kanaya's hanging out outside Larmline, against one of the trees. :)]

It's a bit surprising we haven't run into each other yet.

...]
That is very surprising. I live with Feferi in room five on that floor. But then I am out of the hivestem quite often.
Reply
'Hivestem'?
[She blinks at the new term. She thought these were called apartments... :T]
Reply
Yes. The... collective residence buildings. I think 'home' is usually used in the singular like hive is.
[They are, but trolls will think first in troll terms. Kanaya still doesn't use the word 'months' without a clear sense of quotes around it... and without doing some math to simplify from the weeks she thinks in.]

[And most of Rue's socializing is minimal--but that's neither here nor there.]
What is it you like to do, exactly, out of the Hivestem?
[She gets bored pretty easily unless there's a curse. But then again, she doesn't like those, either...]

[It's still such a novel experience to live in a place with people everywhere, instead of being a decent journey across a desert to the nearest friends.]
I assist with that Defense Force by patrolling around the main bubble for signs of strife or danger with some regularity... And I occasionally design clothing and assist keeping the shop it's sold in open.

So that's what she is. This is the first of Kanaya's kind that Rue's spoken to, indeed. But it doesn't surprise her; her world is full of strange creatures--some who dance right along with her at the school.
...And she is taught by a cat, after all.]
I see...
[She really has no place on a Defense Force, but she does seem kind of interested in the clothes.]
Demyx did mention that the shops accept help from us. Though I had no idea you could actually make such things to be sold there.
