Last night we were nearly broke, but we managed to scrounge up enough money (mostly spare changes) to be able to afford Hungry Howie™'s $5 Value Menu

Oh no no no, see I said it's possible she was required to say that. I don't think it's probable. Maybe she was just on auto-pilot or something, but I don't think she was doing her job well and it would piss me off if it happened to me. I don't at all think you were overreacting or anything, if that's what you thought.
Tonight four of us went to the bowling alley. We asked if we could use the coupon we had and the guy behind the counter said yes, but it would soon be time for cosmic bowling and then they'd have to reset the lanes. So we could bowl now but we'd only have about half an hour. We said we'd come back and we did and after he said, "Didn't I already give you a lane?" and we told him, no, we left and came back, he told us we couldn't use the coupon for cosmic bowling. Well, really, why in the hell didn't he tell us that earlier when we said we'd come back later? We ended up leaving anyway because it was stupidly expensive. (Seriously, why should it be like ten bucks more for some bad music and neon lights?)
One problem with dealing with people in retail is that people - cashiers and customers - tend to go in thinking the other is an idiot. Go to customers_suck then to go bad_service. Then try to imagine how the entries in one would sound if they were posted from the other perspective.
I hate slackers in customer service. I tried my damnedest when I was in retail to actually be helpful to my customers and it just bugs me when I don't get good service. I'm probably overly sensitive to it, though. I dunno.
Also, I don't mind if you reference my comments and I also don't mind if you use my name. I like my name to be used. It makes me feel popular. Obviously you don't have to, though. I'm talking too much. =^)
