Does not compute

I know that shoujo manga isn't the best place for reliable information on relationships, being fairly dramatized. A lot of the situations in shoujo manga aren't at all realistic, nor are the reactions of the people in those situations. This is what I thought as I watched Sekaiichi Hatsukoi, a yaoi anime based in the same universe as Junjou Romantica. I've never been in a romantic relationship myself, mind, but I couldn't take any of SH seriously. For one, I highly doubt that every hot, manly seme has a long narrow face; squinty, glary eyes and a ridiculous propensity of molesting the nearest cute love interest. On the other hand, there are the ukes, all of whom act girlier than I do (yes, I am female). The ukes have a bizarre habit of being sexually harassed (yet doing nothing about it) by their bigger love interests and jumping to conclusions. There are so many misunderstandings between the ukes and the semes, mostly because communication appears to be utterly nonexistent between the pairs. This seems to be realistic (I've read that communication is key to a healthy relationship), but the ukes never seem to learn that making assumptions without actually consulting with their romantic pair is a bad idea. I mean, if Ritsu had asked Takano why he'd started laughing at his question, we could've avoided the emotional scarring and melodrama!
There's also the problem with Ritsu's estrogen tsundere levels. He's had sex with Takano how many times? He's been stalked by Takano for how long? Yet he still persists in denying that he has feelings for Takano. Dude, when your face goes all-red every time your love interest so much as touches you, I think that you should admit defeat and get together with him. Seriously.
Conversely, there's something very wrong with the semes testosterone levels. They do not know how to take 'no' for an answer. Come hell or high water, they are going to get their uke and have their happy ever after too, by God! Even through all of the misunderstandings and shenanigans their ukes get up to, the semes are still dead-set on claiming ownership of what (they think) is rightfully theirs. Wow. These guys should try being lawyers. They'd win any case just out of sheer bullheadedness.
Mind you, SH wasn't that bad of a series. It was sort of entertaining, and the animation was okay. If this series hadn't been yaoi, though, I would never have considered watching this.
