Yes, Taeyeon's defense mechanism of being sarcastic was harsh and probably unprofessional, but it did have some truth in it. But of course it's her mistake since she's a public figure who is supposed to be polite. SO she was wrong when it comes to that, I do not deny that

About Taeyeon... I read the other comments here, and I do agree that nurses aren't allowed to give shots without the approval of a doctor. It's the same in any country (even here or in the US, since I studied the standards of Phil. nursing practice in college and the standards of US nursing practice during my review classes for the NCLEX). Maybe the nurse just wasn't able to explain that properly to Taeyeon? :x The doctor was probably on lunch break, and if it's the same in Korea like it is here in the Philippines, nurses can't contact doctors for stuff like that unless it's an emergency (I doubt Taeyeon's case was an emergency even though she was in pain :x). Something to do with how doctors are "superior" and stuff so they can't be bothered during their breaks. -_-;;

But I don't think it was right for Taeyeon to just say things like that, and just assuming things... Maybe she could've probed further and asked why they couldn't give her a shot just because it was lunchtime? Because I'm sure the nurse would've explained things to her better if she asked.

But, on the other hand, if she was in pain, then it would've been difficult for her to understand things.

But, then again, it wasn't right for her to say something like that on air. o_o It was quite unprofessional, and I dunno... I was a bit offended (as a nurse)? I'm not angry or anything, I'm just a bit hurt because people don't really understand the scope of our job yet they blame us for most of the things that go wrong. -_- Seriously, we're only limited to what the doctors order us to do, and there's only so much we can do on our own without doctor's orders. People's expectations of nurses are so warped. ._.;;

But I'm not blaming Taeyeon completely for this because it could've happened to anyone. Ehehe.

For me it should have been the nurse's responsibility to explain to a SICK person in FULL DETAIL why she can't have a shot. I'm usually scatter-brained, more so if I'm sick... and I doubt I would have thought of asking for further explanation than the one given to me (if I had been Taengoo). I would be straight-up flabbergasted at the incredulous reason given to me. You're already sick and then you're turned away? Without a legitimate reason (well she wasn't given a legitimate reason at that time)?

I don't think Taengoo would have been pissed off if she was told that LAW dictates that she cannot have a shot. But what was she told? "Doctors are all out, I'm on lunch break, lie down if you're feeling bad." That just sounds ABSURD to me. And if I had been the patient, I won't "timidly go away after saying, 'How can you be like this?'" I would probably burst.

I think that is also the reason why she chose to bring it up on air. Hearing it like that just sounds absurd and reeks of bad service. I don't doubt that a lot of nurses work hard, but I also know that not ALL nurses work as hard as they should. And this made it seem like the nurse didn't do all she could do to assist a sick patient.

Yes it might be unprofessional and yes it will be a mistake because she's a public figure... but knowing my attitude, I would have probably done the same thing. And probably because I see Filipinos do that on air here. It isn't new to me. I do vindictive things when I feel I've been wronged. It doesn't make it right, but it makes me real. It was most harsh that she was sarcastic in her apology. That for me was the most offensive thing she did. But I understand why she vented on air, because I really would do the same thing in her position. :/

If you feel like you're misunderstood, then shouldn't you find a way to clear the air and EXPLAIN to people what the real deal is so you won't be misunderstood anymore? :/

I feel as if the root of a lot of problems is miscommunication. We should all work on that.

Also because she wasn't on a rest day when it happened. She doesn't have rest days even when she's sick. She still has her schedule and went to the hospital just so she could have a bit of relief.

Sorry I ranted at you. D: I just feel that not a lot of people are looking at both sides of things. They BOTH made a mistake and some people choose to overlook that. SNSD fans say that Taengoo did nothing wrong. But even if I do admit I would have done that if I were in her shoes.. it's still wrong. That's a pretty bitchy thing to do. And again, the nurse should have explained things fully so Taeyeon didn't feel as if she had been wronged. :/
