The sun woke him up. He'd forgotten to close the drapes last night after spending time on the porch with his host. He rubbed sleep from his eyes and then lazily got out of bed. This was a nice spot Korda had, he thought while looking out the window. He'd always like the Americas, especially South. The view was of Rio and it was clear this location had been well planned to take in the beauty of the coastline and city below with the passage of time. He made a mental note to check it out from the main house later.
After a shower he found a plate of fresh-baked sweet rolls and muffins. Rosa had brought it by earlier that morning with a note from Korda that asked him to join them for breakfast at his leisure. He was hungry and greedily ate a muffin before pouring some coffee. "They thought of everything," he said with a pleased tone. After a couple of sips he checked on Clyde.
"Hey buddy, how ya feeling?" he said while scooping the monkey out of the carrier. Clyde's eyes fluttered open and he snuggled against the man's shoulder. "Sorry about leaving you in there but I figured new place and all, ya might feel safer."
He went into the kitchen and took one of the five bottles he'd brought out of the refrigerator. He tucked it under his arm, grabbed his coffee mug, and went out on the wrap-around porch. "Wake up sleepy head!" He chuckled and sat down.
Clyde curled up on his lap still wanting more sleep. He sipped his coffee and then propped his legs up on the stone balustrade. He slid the monkey into an upright position. "Time to eat." He eased the bottle into Clyde's mouth. That did it! Clyde's eyes opened wide and he grabbed tightly to the bottle and fed. "Good monkey." He patted the small monkey's head and leaned back to enjoy the view.
A half hour had passed when he finally got up. "We've got to go to the big house, Clyde. They're expecting us for breakfast."
