His features showed signs of aggravation as he sat down to send Korda a secure email. He'd have called but didn't want any of his current ill temper oozing out while talking. That evening Kronos arrived at the front gate with a small suitcase and pet carrier. The security was aware of his coming and escorted him in after letting Korda know.

He'd never been here and was impressed by the beauty of the estate even in the growing darkness of evening. They started up the long road that led to the main house.

She placed the house phone back in the cradle and nodded at André on the other side of the desk. "They're on their way up to the house." She bent over and checked her reflection in the chrome of the stapler. "Do I look okay?"

He nodded and then smiled. "Let me make sure." He rose and took her into his arms in a loving and nurturing embrace. "Perfume, exquisite. Bling, shiny." He loved the grin she gave him knowing they were thinking the same thing. "Make-up, check. Hair, very nice. And your dress…" He stepped away from her while holding up her hands. "Stunning! This might be too much for him."

"An-dré!" She beamed now, happy they'd made it through their checklist game in record time.

He smiled broadly. Offering his arm, they went down the hallway. "It will be nice to see Kronos again. I imagine he will be delighted to see you since you could not be in New York for the last trip when we hooked up. You know, maybe he will have even remembered your fondness for street vendor delicacies."

"Really?" Her voice was laced with anticipation that he might have brought her a pretzel or better yet, a hot dog with all the trimmings, although how he could manage to keep the hot dog warm she had no idea.

"Did you just use 'hooked up' in a sentence? You said 'bling' earlier. Are you feeling well?" She placed the back of her hand against his forehead just to check.

"I am perfectly fine. I just thought, since you enjoy the young Asian boy's company so much, I better start getting with the flow of things if I am to accompany you two on occasion. You don't want me looking like your father, do you?"

Her eyebrows lifted in surprise. Accompanying them when they went out to a club? And cut into the time she got to spend with him... the object of her crush? Oh no. No, no, no! Her head shook. "No André," she answered smoothly. "I don't want you to look like my... daddy."

She flashed him a playful smile as they entered the foyer and saw Rosa closing the door behind Kronos. He stood there with a small bag at his side and holding of all things, a pet carrier!

She inhaled softly. Maybe he did bring her something!

Daddy? What was going on here? He saw a brief look of embarrassment cross Korda's face. Must be some kind of pet name, he thought, and then let it go with only a grin at the other man.

"Korda, nice to see you," he said while offering a hand. "Impressive place ya got here." His gaze shifted to Cee. Now there was a sight for sore eyes. Not that he didn't think Korda enjoyable to look at but when it came to these two, she usually caught and held a more generous part of his eye. "Littlest Immortal, don't you look stylin'."

"Thank you, Kronos. You look happy so there must have been no troubles with your flight."

Her curiosity was growing about what was in the pet carrier. She knew how to successfully get that kind of information from André, but she didn't dare use those same tactics on Kronos.

"It was good, we made good time. The meal left a lot to the imagination though." He chuckled and then gave her a kiss on the cheek.

He watched her eyeing the pet-carrier, she was just dying to know its contents. Having a fairly good idea what lurked behind the flimsy lock, Korda, on the other hand, was not at all amused. "Merci I will have to show you the estate during the daylight. For now, please, you must want to freshen up and then we shall dine."

"That's the great thing about first class, hot towels and the ability to freshen up before you arrive at your destination. So I'm good, for now."

He followed along side Cee as Korda ushered them into a study. On a low table near the seating area
he saw fresh fruit, finger sandwiches, and tea.

"Where can I put this?" he asked, indicating the pet carrier?

He spied the twin of his Get-a-Way Elite Massage Chair out of the corner of his eye and grinned at the memory of his shopping trip with Cee.

"How do you like yours?"

"Like mine?" It took him a moment and then he grinned to complexly mask his undying displeasure at that little charade. But there could be no battle of words over those past events seeing as he was outnumbered right now. "I like it. It is one of the best gifts I have ever received. I especially enjoy the deep heat for the legs."

He picked up the teapot and Kronos nodded, so he poured three cups. "Normally I do not allow animals into the study," he said dryly.

Before Kronos could say anything, the pet carrier shook and small fingers slipped through openings in the door, easily lifting the latch. It swung open and Clyde jumped to the floor. He froze long enough to figure out where the food was, and then he leapt on top of the table and grabbed one of the sandwiches. He made a shrieking sound when he saw Korda and then rushed quickly back to the cage. He was about to slip inside when he saw Cee. This was a new person and that meant further investigation.

He approached her eagerly, dancing at her feet and holding up his half eaten sandwich as a friendship offering.

He'd almost dropped the cup and saucer when the monkey screeched. That sound went through his entire body like a metallic taste and he clenched his teeth. He was going to ask Kronos to put it away but it was too late. He could see by the expression on Cee's face all hope of keeping that vile little beast contained was gone. Instead he sipped the tea and watched with as much patience as possible.
