TM Topic - 151 The moral of the story…

He had kept the journal safe but never opened it. He'd never had the desire to know. It didn't matter now. His plan was running smoothly. But Clyde had gotten hold of it and he had to put it out of the monkey's reach. So he decided while it was out, and he had some free time, he'd look at the first few entries. He'd only read a couple of lines about brothers, when his thoughts started to drift.

1000 BCE

A few weeks had passed and the changes were almost unnoticeable. There were slow shifts in Methos' allocation of time and a subtle replacement of camp slaves to divert attention from it. Almost unnoticed, he thought while sitting quietly under the shade of his tent-flap. But last night, Caspian had come to him with the developing seeds of discontent. His favorite's visit hadn't been a surprise; Caspian was shrewd when it came to his cut. But when the big man Silas came and insisted he was going to retrieve for himself something lost to the newest arrival, he'd been forced to reconsider the chemistry of the camp.

This was a slave and no different from the others. He'd killed her to make a point. She didn't matter one way or the other. The fact that his brother had taken a liking to her was of no concern to him. Time would dictate her end because there was no room in their world for another of their kind unless they served some purpose. Unfortunately for her, it was only to please Methos and his self-serving tendencies, which started to nip at the bonds of brotherhood. And what had not given Kronos a second thought now became his unwanted concern.

1997

He'd not hunted her even though he knew she was near, she didn't matter one way or the other. The fact that his brother had hidden from her all these centuries was almost amusing. It had been she who had come seeking his head, and in that vain attempt, it was she who had led him straight to Methos… and MacLeod. And had it not been for them standing between him and his brothers, they would not have registered on his scale of life.

Present Day

He does not hunt them even though he knows they are near. Unless there is some purpose for reaching is goals they are as all are … nothing. The rumors they spread of how he came back, the speculation of his threat; these are as flights of fancy.

There are facts though, his quickening is whole, his head is soundly on his shoulders, and he is the only one that knows why and how. And then there is the return of his brothers. Caspian and Silas. And then Methos is … well … Methos.

He closed Methos' journal and a twisted smile curled his lips.

"The moral of this story … you figure it out."

ooc: I was chatting with Korda/mun the other day and it came to our attention that some people lock their posts. We both do not but it has always been assumed, by us, that these journals are private so the entries would not be something that anyone would know about unless the character allowed it. Comments are always welcome, but the entries are not for role-play knowledge unless otherwise specified. It makes perfectly good sense to me that Kronos would not allow anyone to actually read his journal. But I wanted to make certain it was clear to everyone else.
