Kronos had gone for a walk to take some of the edge out of his growing impatience at a supplier. He'd been waiting for almost two days for a chemical needed for his experiments. It was twilight and a fog was moving across the small inlet where the fishing boats docked. He could smell the sea and the overpowering scent from the catch in their holds.
Suddenly he felt dizzy, like drunkenness, and it caused him to lean against a lamp-pole. His eyes closed and the smell of fish that had been sickening, suddenly made his mouth water. He opened his eyes and scanned around seeking the closest source of the sweet aroma. Once he'd located it he swiftly moved along the dock, stopping now end then to peer around for anyone who might see him. He found a boat whose crew was drunk and making merry in the keel-house. He jumped from the dock to the boat with ease and made his way down the stairs that lead to a long corridor. At the end of it he found the trap door slightly ajar and he slipped through.
There was a feast for the ages, fresh salmon still alive in a shallow pool of salt water. He reached for one but it was far more difficult than he'd thought. He used strength and his ever-present willpower to pull it from the water. It flopped around on the floor but he quickly subdued it. I'm starving, he thought. I need to eat more regularly. He'd make a fine dinner with this beauty.
When he was finished he sat back, sated and content. He couldn't bring himself to even move for a time. Then he heard the crew's voices. A lone man came down the stairway and into the hold. Kronos, who was hidden in the shadows, watched him move around to the other side of the room. Certain he could make his way out without the man noticing, not that it really mattered except he needed to get back to the lab and didn't want to be held up with having to kill someone, he silently crept back up the stairs. Once outside he leapt back to the dock just as a shot rang out. Someone was firing a gun at him!
He turned with anger flaring his nostrils. This person would die! There was time enough for that! You'll pay for that with your life, Kronos growled to himself not bothering to waste the effort speaking. The man took aim once more and fired. This time the bullet just missed Kronos. "Meow, growl… growllll… woewllll, yow, meowww, ggrrrrrrrrr yowll! You can't kill me, I am The End of Time!" he hissed while leaping at the man, catching him right in the face with both paws!
PAWS!!
Kronos jumped from his bed and rushed to the mirror. It was a dream, only a dream. He splashed warm water over his face before making his way to the kitchen. He was going to make coffee until he saw the finger on the floor. He swiftly scanned around to make sure he was alone before bending down to pick it up. It smelled like fish. "Index finger, bitten clean through," he chuckled but it made him cough and he couldn't stop the involuntary reaction. He dropped to his knees and heaved over and over again, but nothing came up. He felt like he was choking. He hated to die that way. His fist slammed against his gut and he simultaneously coughed up the blockage. It lay in a warm pile before him. "What the…" An amused expression came over him as he realized what it was - a fur ball.
ooc: This would be Kronos' first time prompting out of his norm. It was fun!
