What is the best present you have ever given someone else?
He walked along the street purposely keeping to the edge of the sidewalk. The morning commuters were busy on cell phones, or pulling themselves together as they hurried in many directions. He watched them with cold and calculating eyes. Monkeys, he thought, nothing more than lab subjects. They had no idea what was to come. He grinned slowly while making his way to the small coffee shop on the corner. Placing both hands on the counter, he ordered black coffee and a sweet roll and made his way to a corner table. He took a sip of the coffee and then casually opened the morning paper.
His reading was interrupted by a coughing man. Peering over the top of the paper, he saw the man leaning against the counter and another man was patting his back, as it appeared the first was choking. The man continued to cough and then fell to his knees. The crowd in the coffee shop gathered around as several of the employees rushed to his aid. One tried to do the Heimlich maneuver on him but it was to no avail. The man stopped breathing long before the paramedics arrived and there was nothing they could do for him once they did.
Kronos watched the entire thing with a scientifically calculating and at times, inquisitive expression. When he was certain the man could not be revived, he slipped silently out of door back into the busy throng on the street.
He heard the sirens and could not help the curl of his lip. The best gift I ever gave, a speedy deliver system for my virus.
