Rain again

Feb 23, 2005 11:14

Hardwood floors in the south west corner of our living room is completely damaged again and look terrible. It needs major repair along with concrete foundation. Oh, I hate home improvements and repairs, and conceder them as disasters!
The average yearly rainfall in downtown Los Angeles is about 15 inches, but the total just since last Thursday reached 9.14 inches. Since July 1, when California begins its yearly rainfall measurements, reached 34.36 inches - more than the annual average for Seattle. The record for the entire year is 38.18 inches, set in 1883-84.
Collapsing hillsides crushed homes, oozing mud blocked highways, a surging river carried away part of an airport, dozens of homes were evacuated or red-tagged - it's not your typical California weather. The other day I saw the longest lightening. It was beautiful, I was frightened and at the same time fascinated with it. I like to watch lightening and always count how many seconds are between lightening and thunder, which indicates how far storm actually is.
