I have been meaning to post for days and days, but life has swamped me, as usual. I also almost finished that new years meme thingie and then my 'puter crashed and it was all gone. Oh well.
In any case, I am in California now and loving it. We've had record-breaking cold, apparently, but the sun has been shining every single day of the 10 days I've been here, which does wonders for my winter mood. Also, there was a little earthquake a couple days ago, but I totally didn't feel it. I'm slightly frightened of earthquakes, actually, since they're so foreign to me. What exactly is one supposed to DO if there's an earthquake, anyway? Take cover? Go outside? Go inside? I have no idea.
My apartment is wonderful -- I'm going to post pictures just as soon as I can figure out how, but it's a converted carriage house on a ranch in West Petaluma. It's totally out in the country and quiet, and I love watching the animals. This morning, I felt terrible for them -- when I looked out my window the ground was covered with frost except for all these little circles where the goats had slept for the night. Poor cold goats. And the chickens were all huddled up at the door to their coop looking miserable. My cats are fascinated by the animals, too -- I don't think they have any idea what the chickens are, so they just sit at the window and watch them for hours.
Anyway, that's all for now. I'll post more soon.
